Sorted !

Talking of computers ! and journals ! I have'nt been getting any 'journal ' comment alerts ,for ages ,I asked Smoky Joe Blogs about this ,but he didnt give a satisfactry solution ,Ah well no matter I thought I just have to keep popping back to my journal to see if I have any comments ,I'm often pleasantly surprised ,and we all like to receive comments ,plus my hit counter is broken any way ,so I can afford to keep popping back.......When Denise (wobblymoo)turned her alerts off recently she noted a new format...Hmm so with a few discussions with the ever helpful/patient Jeannette(jottings)..........I had a look at my alerts only to find Serendipity was OFF........problem solved and my comments send me a ping and an alert! and the dog gets his exercise again ,so remember folks when you leave me a comment you are really ,giving Scooby some much needed excercise running up and down the hall ,because hes as nosy as I am to see whos been reading my journal!

I might be late posting ,tomorrow. The Lady who lives a few doors away has invited me to join the over 50's group who meet once a month in the next village .(it might  even be over 60's ) Maurice thought it hilarious, when I told him, going to the Granny club !Theres many a good tune played on an old Granny I told him ,

So at 1.30 tomorrow I'M OFF to see what elderly ladies in the Fens get up too.Of course as a manager ,before I retired ,of an elderly peoples complex I arranged many such functions,so it will be nice to be on the receiving end ,so to speak .

Ah you ,thought the previous picture was me and Betty didnt you ?come on admitt it ...........No I'm the lady in RED ...CUE FOR SONG ..And  Betts in the little yellow number .....I will of course be back to tell you all about it ,I bet you cant wait can you ?

With Lots of Love   Thanks to Chris, CAB  for my brilliant sig today xx

Going to the over 50's club?! Is that something like Bored Housewives?!! Hope you enjoy it. Reminds me of the time I was invited to the OAP's carol service with the promise of a cup of tea and mince pie after, trouble was I was only 26yrs old at the time, think somebody read my age back to front!! Can't wait to hear about it! Jeannette xx

I am the 30th comment! Goodness me I have never ever had that many comments! You certainly have a lot of friends. Good luck with the over 50s club. I have been to them and they vary. The last one I went to the average age was 70! Being a village it will probably be more of a mixed bag. Longing to see what you make of it. Love Conniex

Have fun at your Granny's Club...too funny!  Glad you got your alerts figured out.  I don't know why that happens from time to time.  Now, the hit counter....grrrr....mine resets itself all the time.  I deleted it because I got tired of it going back to 1.  It keeps reappearing.  Some people use hit counters from other sites.  I haven't tried that yet.  Hugs  Chris

Well I'm glad to see by the amount of comments here that scooby has been getting plenty of exercise over the last 24 hours.  Hope you got your fair share of exercise at the 'more mature persons gathering' lol, it's all in the wording you see.  Anyway, hurry up and let us know how it was, Sam xx

Hi there,

I hope you enjoy your visit to the 'Granny Shop.'

I am only joking.

One of the things that I have learned, since I have retired, is that we are blessed with being able to meet people that we were unable to meet when we were working, we simply did not have the time.

Meeting other like minded people only serves to enrich our lives and it is a pitty that we cannot be more open with one another, as we were when we were young, but things have moved on and, to survive, we must move with them.

I remember, as a small boy, listening to older people when they visited my mum and I have to say that many of them had wonderful tales to tell.

Thank you for reminding me of this.

Over 50's, 60's, 70's or 80's who cares about age, it is the knowledge and happyness we gain from the experiences of meeting others that is the wonderful part of life that I think is so rich.

In a time when experiences seem to be gained from entertainment that is provided rather than entertainment of our own making, it seems to me that talking, especially about old times, is a pastime that could and should be part of our every day lives and that is one of the reasons I enjoy reading and writing the blogs.

It would seem that there are lots of people out there, all like minded, and when you go to the over something club, there is bound to be someone there who knows lots of interesting things that will brighten up anybodies day

I hope you have a wonderful time at the meeting.

By for now,

John.
