Good morning, I hope everyone had a good weekend. Now here we are Monday morning again ,my how the weeks fly by .I was looking through more photographs at the weekend and found and scanned them....and because they were taken when I was at work it seemed appropriate to show you them on a work day ,rather than the weekend !
There was a lot of routine stuff involved in the job,of Scheme Manager.. for instance the first job would be to call all the residents in their own homes (on the call system)to make sure they were alright ,then a huge amount of paper work ,then I would visit them ,this they loved and would save their grievances for this ! and gossip! but they were generally nice visits when they were pleased to see me,especially the more housebound, less mobile residents,I would hear all there secrets ,fears , and worrys ,and we would try to sort them all out ,its amazing how just by chatting to some one ...your worrys can be ironed out especially over a nice cuppa ! It was on these visits that Care plans could be up dated,We had a lot of fun too ..lots of coffee mornings where we would have 'The clothes show 'a lady would come along in her big van and load her racks with clothes for the residents to choose from .We had a shoe man visit too ,with nice wide fitting shoes and easy fastening slippers ,we had flower arranging demonstations, and card making classes ,jumble sales and bazaars ,with some times bizzare things to sell to raise funds ,they loved to play bingo ! and we had gentle keep fit ,with Eileen Fowler ! remember her ?
Every Tuesday through the winter months we had a gathering ,called Womens Own and that was lovely ,it was an interdenomational service ladies from the village joined us ,we would have speakers ,a visiting Vicar ,hymns and prayers ,We all loved Womens Own ....We had dances from time to time too, you can see Ernie in one of the pictures playing his accordian ,and Benny used to come often with his stack of tapes and records of all the golden oldies...yes whilst alot of serious stuff was going on we also had alot of fun ........I hope you enjoyed a peep into a working day ,and as you know I'm retired now ,so I will change into something a little more casual, I hope you all have a happy Monday Thankyou Chris for this great graphic ...you see now, I'm retired I'm just a country gal !

I enjoyed reading about the work you used to do. My father in law is in a nursing facility and his care takers are wonderful people. They are angels on earth. Bless your heart for the love you passed on to those people.

You certainly had a very interesting and varied job. But sounds like it kept you stepping. I'm betting you still find plenty of things to keep you busy and enjoy that retired life. I know my BF is loving it so far. HUGS Chris
Oh yes Jan I remember well . We also got roped into Bingo Nights , Jumble sales , summer fetes , and Numerous days out to the sea , Markets , Pick your own , and Stately homes lol. I had the Bigest Complex In Wilts . 94 Flats And Bungalows . The flats were on 3 floors and as The Warden wasn't allowed to use the Lift's it was up and down 3 flights of stairs umteen times a day . But it was worth it I loved my Job untill the paper work overtook the care . ??
