Sunshine all the way

The continuing saga of Maurices days off ....On Thursday morning he had a meeting (his day off !! 7 am !!) I got up too ,I hoovered ,and did all the ironing, before it got too hot...On Maurices return ,we went to Springfields in Spalding Lincs ..where Pete my Brother in law told me of a very good display /presentation  of the history of the Fens ..and they are an outlet shopping centre too !....I bought a very nice M&S tee shirt ,and a per una ,lace shrug, both brown ,(brown must be my new black this season )...We walked through the gardens designed by Charley Dimmock (a TV gardener ) I had seen them about two years ago when it was first done have to admit they are looking so much better now things have grown and matured ....then into the exhibition which was well worth the trip, full of facts about the Fens ,which since moveing here I am reseaching avidly...you will see from the pictures how interesting it was ...we came away armed with lots of books and brochures ,next we went to Baytree, nurseries a big garden centre also in Spalding, and continued our search for THE water feature....and then back via Crowland to Wyevale ,another garden centre ! more water features ...we have come to the conclusion they are so similar ,the cheaper ones are all cheap and nasty or the expensive are best in stately homes or even cemetarys ,,The out come is ...Maurice is now going to make his own !  .....Yesterday he went back to work I washed the lounge curtains, and did some gardening ...Oh and the other day at the club my present contained 'Sweet pea showercreme'and a flannel, This afternoon I plan to go to the junior school fete ,it starts at two pm the same time as you know what ,COME ON ENGLAND ....

So on that happy note have a lovely day every one with Love

Lovely photos Jan, the pond looked beautiful. Can't think why Maurice wouldn't want that big spade! Can't think why the guzunder was there either unless they've had a lot of people visiting with bladder problems! Clever Maurice, doing his own water feature! My neighbour did one once with a lovely waterfall running over rocks, it looked so natural. Have a great weekend! Jeannette xx

Lol at Maurice and that shovel. Good for him building his own water feature. It'll be unique and more enjoyable when it's done.
Enjoy the fete, shouldn't be too many people there, so you might even win the tombola. B. x

Great photos Jan....you've been busy!  I know what you mean about water-features, we're wanting one for the front garden but they're all out of our price range - and the ones we can afford just look cheap and nasty.  The majority of my clothes are brown...or beige...or cream!
Enjoy the fete!

The pictures are great.  Can't imagine why Maurice wouldn't want that big shovel.  We had a "water feature" in our back yard back in the 70's before it became fashionable.  My then husband & the neighbor built one in our yard and then one in their yard.   My son was little at the time, he loved it.  He washed the dog in it, sat in it  and/or peed in it frequently.  We had gold fish in it for awhile but the local racoons kept snacking on them so we gave up.  Linda in Washington

Hi Jan, well good for Maurice, why pay £££s for something if you can make a good job of it yourself.  He made a good job of the fireplace so why not have a go, I`ve seen just how expensive some of them are.  Our boys won the footie then, though Jim wasn`t impressed by their performance!  The weather`s been gorgeous here so I expect you have the same there, have a lovely evening. :o)

I can't wait to see the water feature Maurice makes.  You are right; either far too expensive or just not made properly.  Sounds like a very good day of shopping.  Enjoy the rest of the weekend.  xxxx  Chris

Love the photos.

I checked with my wife, thinking that we had been to the place you photographed but, once again, I was wrong.

Having said that, we used to have friends that lived in Gedney

By for now,

John.

Love the pics!  Now, you know what I'm going to do?  Go and research FENS because I had no idea what they were until you mentioned them here.  But, I am a true Gemini!  I question everything, and love to learn new things.. so I'm off to read about Fens.

Hope you and Maurice have a lovely weekend, Jan!

Hugs,
Jackie
