A Football Free Zone

No prizes for guessing what I will be doing tonight ?Maurice has to work an additional shift ,someone has rung in sick ,Hmmm ! No doubt questions will be asked ! a memo had been circulated ,with the message that nothing short of a death certificate, would excuse them from being off  ,today/night ....(Perhaps I exaggerate,a little bit )Well as soon as the video shop opened I rang them up to see if they had 'Memoirs of a Geisha',I have been waiting for it to come out on general release.Once I've seen the film I shall search out the book too.,it was reviewed on Richard and Judy and really made me want to read it,I find if Iwatch a film after reading the book it spoils how I see the characters in my imagination ....so on this occasion Im doing it this way round ...Yes they have the film ,so I shall curl up and watch it tonight whilst nearly everyone else is watching the match ,Of course I do hope our boys win ...But I am confident they will do their best or worst without any input from me .So on that happy note .Ill take my leave ....whatever you do this evening I hope its enjoyable,With Love and

Football Free Zone sounds good to me ~ Hope you enjoy your film tonight ~ I wonder who rang in "sick" ~ poor Maurice having to work ~ does he like football !!! ~ hope they have a TV to watch if he does ~ I like to read a book first before seeing it turned into a film but you will have to let us know how you feel once you have seen the film ~ Ally

I didn't know there was football on tonight, can't stand it! I hope you enjoy your film Jan, it sounds good. I haven't seen it yet. I bought a Ray Charles in concert DVD that I may watch later. Jeannette xx

Why is there football on on a Thursday evening? 22 overpaid dunces prancing on a lawn, that's my opinion.

Hi Jan,

I read Memoirs of a Geisha severals years ago and it was fantastic, I couldn`t put it down.  I`m about to start reading it again, it was that good, so I can highly recommend it to you.  Jim is on lates too so there`s no footie tonight, except the last twenty mins of the England match, when they scored their two goals.  Mind you, he`ll probably watch the second half of the next game when he comes in tonight...sigh!

Hope you enjoyed the film, our house wasnt a football free zone, but tv is in a different room to the one that i am usually in, so at least I didnt have to have it on in back ground.
I have better things to do than watch 22 men kick a bag of wind about,

take care

I look forward to hearing how you like the movie.  I have read the book and loved it.  I am going to see the movie, I just haven't had the chance yet.  I hear it is visually beautiful.  I would rather watch a movie or read than watch a football game, too.  Baseball and basketball are another thing.  I enjoy both of them.    Kathy

I agree.  I hate to read a book after the film.  Most times, the books are so much better, for some reason, anyway.  Let us know how you like it.  xxx Chris

I've seen the movie on the big screen and I have the book but haven't read it yet. It's sad to see how some countries treat females.   Linda in WA

I saw the movie when it was first released to video here in the US, and found it to be quite good, but hard to understand at times.  The actors are Japanese so the accents could be thick sometimes, so you really have to pay attention! lol  I never read the book.  I'm sure it's even better.
