Royal Ascot ,or home with my knitting ?

Donna 's designs often grace my journals ,Donna can be found in my side bar,do visit her for a treat  ,  I love this new one ,she calls it Royalty house ...isnt it lovely ,look at the reflections in the water .. ..Talking of Royalty ,I have been tuning in to Royal Ascot on the TV the last couple of days ...I love to look at the fashions of the ladies at this famous race meeting and not least the Queen, yesterday she looked lovely in sea green ,today she wore a yellow coat and hat ,the commentater was saying ,the queen doesnt specify an outfit is for a particular occasion  ,she works with her designer with a whole lot of out fits  ..she must be up all night deciding what to wear tomorrow ....Do you think ?,and then if its not quite right ,does she chuck it on the chair and try something else... do you think ?There is however a royal protacol

Royal Enclosure Dress Code
Ladies are required to dress in a manner appropriate for a formal occasion. This means that: a hat must be worn; strapless dresses are not permitted; midriffs must be covered; and trouser suits, of full length, must be of matching material and colour. Gentlemen are required to wear either black or grey morning dress, including a waistcoat, with a top hat. Overseas visitors are welcome to wear the formal national dress of their country or Service Dress. Please note those not complying with the dress code will be asked to leave the Royal Enclosure. Children, Girls must wear a dress or skirt, Boys a suit or jacket and smart trousers with a tie. Jeans and trainers are not permissable.

What is the top picture all about ,I have just started to knit a gillett, and it occured to me ,I wonder how many of you dont knit anymore because ,the steel needles hurt your arthriticfingers ,I have discovered bamboo needles , they are so much more easy on the fingers .Well I guess thats it for today ,Maurice has gone of to work ,I'm going to make a cauliflower cheese for my dinner/supper ,and then get on with my knitting ...With Love

Dianna made this Siggy ,Will it do for Ascot...do you think ?Thankyou Dianna

I always heard there were lots of rules re dress there for functions suvh as you described. Very few rules here! A few when visiting the White House or Presidential functions, but not many! :)

The rib on your knitting looks really neat Jan ~ and I love Donna's graphic ~ I think the queen wears whatever they put in front of her ~ can't somehow imagine her sorting through her wardrobe and picking out what she will be wearing ~ I never realised they were so many rules of dress code to enter the Royal enclosure ~ enjoy your evening ~ Ally

That is fantastic wool you are going to use will you post a picture when you are finished.  Was watching Ascot yesterday and managed to pick a winner just for fun bet is I had money on it that would have gone down the pan.  I loved the outfit The Queen wore last week to St Pauls.  It looked a different colour each time i saw it and its the same this week in the mags.  LOve Joan.

Hi there Jan. I don't 'ave the Queen's burden of choice, with me wardrobe. Wear what I can struggle into - me body shape changes daily; according ter the state o' me 'ormone levels. Bet the Queen's allowed a reg'lar supply of HRT - cos she 'as royal 'ormones. Keep laughing with me or I'll cry lol.

Hi Jan,  The Queen always looks so happy at Royal Ascot, mind you it`s just down the road from her favourite home Windsor Castle and she loves anything to do with horses.  She always looks lovely and never makes a fashion faux pas, unlike some of her younger relatives.  Good luck with the knitting, if only I had the patience, or the ability...lol! :o)

I was determined to knit when I was younger. The next-door neighbour would knit and would teach me... but all I managed was a red square lol!

Love Donna's graphic and Dianna's too. You girls are very clever I wouldn't know where to start ~ you'll have to teach me one day! xx

Jan I never realised there were so many rules to abide by when you dress for a Royal event. Her Majesty looks fabulous at eighty years of age and always appears happy in whatever she is wearing!

I wish I knew how to knit.  My mother-in-law knits beautiful things.  She knit a lovely little dress for Megan when she was about 2 years old.  It had a scalloped hem with little open hearts all the way around.  It was adorable!  She makes baby sweaters for all the babies in the family and they are keepsakes.  Be sure to post a picture of your knitting project when it's finished!  Kathy

I think but am not 100% sure that a scotsman is allowed to wear a kilt in the royal enclosure...I could be wrong though...I love looking at the hats as some of them are so fabulous even though i hate wearing one myself   Caff xxxxx

I wish I could knit.  I've tried many times but just can't get the hang of it.  Love the royal protocol for dressing.   xxxx Chris

So thaat's why the queen never has a bare midriff in the royal enclosure! Lol! I've got some of those bamboo knitting needles, they are better for arthritic fingers. I started an Aran sweater about three years ago, must get on and finish it, I forgot all about it till I saw your entry! Have a lovely weekend! Jeannette xxxx

When I lived in west London I went to Ascot each year and was fascinated by what everyone wore. I was amazed at all the limos parked in a huge field and the toffs who had champagne picnics and wonderful clothes. It is a fascinating event and the new stand is wonderful! Love Conniex
