Bong-Bong !

Hi everyone, I'm later than usual today ,no reason really,Maurice has just gone of to work he will come home tomorrow morning,to three days off ....one of the days ,I think we will go and pick up our water feature I think we have both decided on the one we want....watch this space ! On Wednesday though,I have my over sixties club, pleeeese dont let them play bingo again !

Its been sunny again, today though I have to admit I didnt think it was very warm,it could be me,but I dont think so ! It has blown lots of washing dry though ,so I'm not complaining ,well I am, because I now have lots of ironing to grumble about !

I was listening to a news item today ,explaining that visitors to our Capital city,London, and indeed, the residents too might notice that the ding dong, ding dong will be missing from Big Ben ,thats the clock in St Stevens tower,as the bells toll out the hours, that is because the bells that create the ding dong bit is being repaired ,So we are left with the Bong !

Three years ago Maurice and I went to 'the big smoke '(you dont hear it called that any more do you ?)We enjoyed our flight on the London Eye,I wasnt sure how I would feel, not being very good with heights any more ,but I thoroughly enjoyed it ....I wouldnt have wanted to miss the panaramic view of our lovely capital city ,you can see everything from up there ,the mall leading to Buckingham palace ,the houses of parliament ,St Pauls cathedral, are just a few of the sights to be seen, it really is amazing ,after our trip on the Eye we went on the river and learned so much history attached to 'Old Father Thames' ,I will tell you all about that another day ....I need to look at the film we took on the camcorder to remindmyself  ,and so With thanks to Donna (shes in my side bar )who made my sig graphic today ,I will say ,,....have a good evening every one, With Love From

Lovely pics! Wot, no ding dong?!! I used to love taking my kids to London when they were small. I'd like to do the London Eye too. You're right, it's not that warm, I think it'll take a few days of sun before it warms the chilly air up! And pray tell me, whats wrong with bingo?!! I hope you don't have to play it again! Have a lovely week. Jeannette xx

Being 700 miles from London, I probably wont notice the lack of bings. Remember years ago one of the bells in the quarter-hour sequence did not sound, so you got Bing **** bing bing ... Great to hear you've had such a good time

Hi Jan,

Great photos,  I`ve not been on the London Eye despite living not that far away. I suppose like everything else, when it`s on your own doorstep you tend not to bother.  I`ve grown up almost beside the Thames and I really love that river.  Luckily for us, living near to Windsor we have a very pretty part of it that we can visit often.  I even fell in it once or twice as a kid...lol!  I really don`t like bingo myself so I hope you don`t have to play it on Wednesday...lol! :o)

Great entry today Jan. I have never been to London and one day I would like to visit England's great capital city and see the sights many people take for granted. I would also love to take a tour up to London to watch a show, but it is expensive. My wish list is forever growing!

Enjoyed reading this entry Jan.  I didn't realise Ben had lost his bong!  I've only been to London once...on a school trip years ago.  I'd love to go back but it just seems so expensive - we priced it once and it wasn't costing much less for a weekend there than our week in the sun is.  I'm just going to do my ironing too ;o(
Hugs,

I would love to visit England and see all your wonderful historic sites.. Big Ben, being one of them!  I swear, someday, I will visit England, Ireland and Scotland!  I will!  I will!!

Hope it's not long before Big Ben gets his Bong back! :)

Hi Jan, I've done the London eye, what  a treat. We were lucky enough to book a capsule just around 4.30pm in February. (A few years ago.) This meant that the lights of London were just coming alive and it looked beautiful, but it was still light enough to pick out individual buildings. I'd love to do it again sometime.

The bong's not the same without the ding-dong!  LOL!  But he'll be a better clock for having this cleaning!

Great photos!

Interesting to those of us that have never made it over to London.  If I did leave US again, UK is where I'd like to go.  So much history!

Lovely journal, JEadie!

Crossing my fingers that there's NO BINGO this week!  LOL!

I do hope I will be able to see London one of these days.  It's been on my list of places to go since I was in high school.  Thanks for your kind words and good wishes about Den's Dad's services tomorrow.  I know things will go well.  I did manage to find a nice outfit.  A skirt, sleeveless top and short sleeve jacket in my favorite shades of blue.  Nice thing is, I have a pair of shoes to go with it!  How often does that happen?  Take care.   Love,  Kathy

Left with the 'bong?' Thats not on you know,we should at least have a 'bing' too, what do we pay taxes for?Bingo in the over 60s club?Do they think thats all pensioners want to do?God its too much to ask for a little imagination, the pensioners here have a ramblers club, they go on a coach every sunday to a place of beauty, walk about 6-7 miles and end up in a country pub, thats my kind of action, let alone when Im a pensioner!!Bloody bingo, honestly.xxzoexx
