February-Gardens and Garden centres ...

Hello Everyone ,well thats January gone, quite where ,I dont know ? of course I lost the middle weeks with that 'flue' ,Maurice had some holiday ,which he spent in the garden ,when he was'nt looking after me! He had some paving stones delivered last Autumn ,but couldnt get to do what he wanted then, because he was recovering from his hernia repair operation.
Did you all remember to say 'Rabbits' to greet the month of February ,surely it won't be long now till Spring ,it is what we are all waiting for ,thought I would start by showing you a picture of the cheerful little daffodils that have flowered for me and say Spring is just around the corner ,the snowdrops are out too ,which always makes me happy .
February looks like being a busy month, looking at my calender I have a number of meetings ,for the Residents forum ,and on Wednesday next we have a party for the over sixties group ,the group celebrates sixty years so that should be fun ,we have written to the press ,I will of course let you know how it goes .and this month I have a birthday ,when I will be 68 years old ,for those of you with poor eye sight that says 45 ? (sometimes I lie ! )
The picture below shows Maurice working away in the back garden....

Well thats the paving done

On Wednesday last week ,I was going a bit stir crazy ,so Maurice and I went to the Huntingdon garden and leisure centre ,from the craft section I bought a knitting pattern ,£2.50 arent they expensive now ,I have some old patterns here with 1/6d on them .oh and I bought a spider plant ,and have put it into a macrame' hanging basket I made years ago ,with the garden in mind Maurice bought a frog and a goose for the area near his water feature,

Hmmm ! now what have they bought ?says Kizzie !
Oh yes ! well you already know I'm whappy.but I like to think I'm caring as well ,so since it was raining ,I bought a sou wester and cape for Maurice's goose .......see?

It is trying to snow here ,I hope you are all having a good weekend and managing to keep warm
So as usual ,lots of love and a......

That looks a very methodical job of Maurice's. I,too, like a visit to the garden centre, but know of no other way to dispose of so much money so quickly - unless it's at the chemist!

January did fly but the weather here is just awful. It's nice to see a picture with no snow in it. I'm glad ou are feeling better. The flu shots didn't seem too effective this year.

We don't say rabbits to greet February but we do have Groundhog day here tomorrow. LOL...I can't remember if he should so his shadow or not. xx

What a nice cheerful entry you had today. From the daffodils to the duck it was very welcome. We do need some color to brighten the days of winter for sure. We are being blessed with sunshine and everything is dripping here...snow and ice melting from the rooftops and gutters of our house. It is just heavenly. We've only got about 2 feet on the gound and that will take much longer to melt. Thanks again for all the sunny cheerful things to see! 'On Ya'-ma

Hi Jan, love the paving stones that Maurice installed. Good job! I can read your fine print (hehehe). You'll be older than me! Actually we are young...just 21 with 46 (47) years of experience. Or we're only 35 not counting weekends & holidays. Anyway age is just a number, right? So happy February and an early happy birthday. Linda in WA

Hi Jan, I didn`t even realise it was Feb 1st until I read it in a journal. This Winter seems so long that one day just runs into the next. I`m bored with Winter now and I`m looking forward to Spring...mind you I`m rather looking forward to the snow even though I have to work in it. Maurice has done a really good job with the slabs, will he come and do some for me please ?...lol! I love the duck and the frog, I have a couple of ducks, one in the garden and a wooden Indian Runner duck in the living room. Stay warm. :o)
Love and Hugs

Happy February Jan! Looks like Maurice has gotten your garden off to a good start! I love the little goose with her cape and hat! Oh, and Kizzy, so sweet checking things out! I would never have believed you would be 68 this month!! You are ever such a youthful 68 I say! I hope I can say that about myself when I get to that age! There is a house in the village that has had a long row of early variety daffodils blooming for several weeks now. They look so pretty and are a beautiful reminder of the spring that really is just around the corner!! XXOO

That Garden is sure going to look pretty when he gets it all finished. A few spring flowers have popped out here but I haven't felt like taking any pictures and when I think of doing it the wind is blowing their little heads around, Of course you can't take pictures of flowers with bobbing heads LOL. Have a nice week.
Hugs, Helen

Glad you are feeling better. I never heard that saying, "Rabbits" to greet the month of February, that's interesting. Maurice's paving looks great and I hope your little duck doesn't need that rain outfit very often. Dawn

Feb is a busy month for birthdays in this family. there are 7, which doesn't sound much but there are only 4 weeks and they are spread throughout so I better get myself orgnised

It will be a week Thursday since it has been watered so I can't wait for Thursday so I can water it. I am blaming the lack of water on Mort when I talk to mt plant. What a delightful surprise to see your daffodils Jan! Roll on spring!
Well done to your Maurice for attacking those flagstones in this weather. What a handy man to have around. He sounds stir crazy because of this weather, just like my husband is too by the way. They like to be busy...don't they?
You definitely don't look your age! And I'm not telling porkies either...lol!
Loved the little ducky duddle in its mackintosh and sou'wester. Billiant! You are as 'daft' as my sister who lives in Kent.
She has a menagerie of ornaments bought from thrift shops out in her garden. hahahahaha!
Glad you have got over that awful flu'.
Take care and roll on SPRING!
Hugs

Thank you Jan for compliments on my Orchid. I have alwAYS SHIED AWAY FROM THEM BECAUSE THE ONES WITH BIG WHITE BLOOMS are really big. I could not have nor would not have bought it for 28.98.. I love watching it cause it is my first, and only one I will ever have. Mort says it is a heALTHY PLANT , Maybe they sold it to me so cheap thinking I would come back for more but its leaves were very yellow. Have a good day.
