Wool ,Books and Windmills !

Yesterday ,I didnt turn on this computer until after three o clock !I was very ruthless I went through my book shelf ,and did some serious pruning !put the books I had decided to part with into my,ever faithful  shopping trolly ,and caught the bus to a village twenty minutes away ,where I did the computer lessons Hah !I had discovered they have a book exchange, and two wool shops !Iain the book shop owner allows 1/4 of the book price ,and his books sell at 1/2r.r.p.So with what I took in ,I was able to purchase three more Patricia Cornwall's ,Iain gave me a card telling me I now have six ninety nine credit ,it was then I realise he does'nt buy the books from you ,never mind ,if I dont lose the card! there is bound to be something I want when next I go,and he's made a note of books Im still looking for ,so I felt very satisfied . I then bought a ball of wool to complete the scarf I started before Christmas ,within the hour I was back on the bus for my homeward return .Since before Christmas we have been seeing wind turbines popping up on the land scape ,like mushrooms ,'cept nobody's getting up in the morning to pick them !at first there was two then three ,now there are eight ,someone said there will be fourteen eventually ,not sure how I feel about them ,may be if they painted the stem green and the middle bit yellow they could pass for giant daisys,I certainly like them better than tuddy great Pylons 'marching' across the open spaces ,as John Betjeman once put it !any way I dont know whether you can make them out in the pictures?

Jeannette's quiz was fun to do,I spent ages high lighting it,in the end I had to do it in two halfs!!!Jeannette asked me, what am I like ?she knows the answer really but is too nice to say lol .I'm also in the process of putting URL's to names on my side bar ,some are working, many are not ,but I;m persevering and will get there in the end ,I think sometimes its just a question of getting the full stop upside down!! Freda's works so if you couldn't get her ,you can go through me . I will have them all working one day I WILL !    And Jeannette(from Brighton ) kindly texted me ,how to put pictures in the order you want ,so I had a little practise with the two I put on here today!some thing else I've learned .

So my friends thats it for today ,have a good Saturday     Jan xx

Know what you mean about the wind turbines, they are so much nicer than electricity pylons!! Talking of turbines they are putting 10 of them in a field not too far from here, apparently they are the first to be put in Northamptonshire...not sure if that is true but the local BBC website says so!!! Like the idea of green stems and yellow sails, LOL!! Now where did that teletubby go, LOL...! luv Joan

You must about have all PC books by now and will have enough to keep you going for a while.  There is a lot of trouble in the hill beside where I live about a wind farm they are wanting to build but do not know the outcome yet. Love Joan.

Guess the wind turbines generate electricity HUH?I have seen any of them over here. Glad you got something in exchange for your books. Better than just trashing them. Helen

Hi Jan that was good to be able to get some more books that you need. You did well not to turn on the computer till 3'clock, just sometimes you have to do jobs!!!I too like the idea that the windmill could be painted like flowers. How nice to find another wool shop, I know you mostly go to the one in Huntingdon.Dad always went "mushrooming" and also picked some called Blue Storks if I remember right.
Have a good weekend ......Love Jeanxx

I think the wind turbines are far prettier than the gigantic pylons...Wish i could stop and take a pic of the ones on way to my mums but there's nowhere safe to stop the car...Cut and paste the URL from the search bar for the links that's what i do LOL...then i psate it into the box on journal for adding them  Caff xxx

Great about the books, glad you are doing well on the computer and I will check out the links. I had not been able to get to Freda because she disappeared for a while and I had lost her addie.  As for wind turbines, I think they are a good idea, a much cleaner form of energy but I agree that they could make them more attractive in some way, something that would cheer people up.

Glad you're adding to your collection of Patricia Cornwell books, they'll keep you going for a few months!! To do the URL's all you have to do is go to the journal you want the URL for and the URL address will be above it in the browser window thingy. Just right click Select all then click to copy it. Go to your journaland paste it into the right hand column for URL addresses and put the persons name or journal name in the left column. You'll soon get the hang of it! Have a good weekend. Jeannette.

Well done you...you have had a rather fruitful two days!!!  I cannot comprehend the pruning of the book collection though!  It's something I badly need to do but just can't bring myself to actually do.  Might manage it one day though...I have no more room for books!! :o)
Have a good weekend

Hi Jan! I enjoyed your entry  - with regard to wind turbines, I do think they are more environmentally friendly than pylons, and I agree with you that more could be done to help them blend into the lanscape. However I think that giant daisies would be a bit like TellyTubbie land!! lol

Jan, there's a place down in California that has lots of them.  If I can find that postcard, I'll send you the picture.  I'm cleaning out my books, too.  We have a store in town called "Half Price Books."  I get alot of my books (videos, DVD's and cassetts, too) there rather than buying them new.  A lot of the ones I cleaning out still have the "Half Price Books" stickers on them.  They won't give me what I paid (probably half of that but that's ok.)  They'll be back on the shelves ready for someone else to enjoy.  Have a good rest of your Saturday.    Linda

Hi Jan, I remember seeing wind turbines outside Mullion in Cornwall while on holiday there.  They have to be good for the environment, and like you say, much better than those `orrible pylons.  Glad you`ve got yourself more Patricia Cornwalls, enjoy the knitting. :o)
