What A O L did for me (not an advert!!)

Talking to a friend today  on I M,she asked me how long had I been with A O L, I suppose its probably,five /six months now .And on reflection its changed my life ,that is a bold statement to make ,but true .I spoke earlier about the difficulty I had adjusting to retirement, not being able to stucture my time etc.Maurice ,said ,at the time ,he didnt think I was mentally ready, with hind sight he was right ,but at the same time my body was telling me something different, working full time in a stressfull environment, and with alot of responsibilty ,was taking its toll,I suppose my employers acknowleded all this ,when I left but was invited to do holiday and sick cover.

So when my sister talked me into getting A O L ,it became away of life I didnt foresee, and I have now found the ideal way of exercising, the leetle grey cells! At first I was finding my way around ,clicked on to blogs ,then Jeannettes jottings ,went to people in her list ,hey this is good !!My sister came over to visit one ,have you done this showed her ,yer wow .....I read and commented, loved it ,I emailed Jeannette for some thing or other ,we had quite a correspondence going, she said why dont you do your own journal!!!WHAT ME ?????oh no ..........what would I talk about LOL ............some more time elapsed,I think I was physcing myself up ..............THEN I thought why not,did the entry ,pressed save and emailed Jeannette saying ,Ive only gone and done it !Ive had some hiccoughs along the way ,and yes youve guessed she sorted me out ,well here I am !Ive been read some 1500 times thanks everyone ,and the rest you know is history. Its great !! Im in the living room or kitchen(but not alot!!) when ....PING....goes an alert ,the dog automaticaly, trots into the study (posh word for you know now where )because he knows we will be in here some time .I have met some fantastic friends and enjoyed some wonderful stories,Its the bestest retirement hobby a girl (and fellah )can have.    With all my love and thankyou   Jan xx

I feel the same Jan....been with AOL nearly 5 years now but only the last 3 - 4 months has it proved its worth...Jeannette inspired me and oh what a difference it has made....I look forward to the news and chat within the journals, but also with the friends I have made in a relatively short space of time!! I think it is not just aol that deserves a slight pat on the back....it is the people at the end of the p.c. cables that make it what it is...our fellow journallers! Hip hooray for J-Land!

Well, everyone is happy that you did start a journal.  I have been with AOL according to them for five years but that is not strictly true, I was with them before that for three years but left them to try some others, none of them compared so I came back to aol.  So, all in all eight years for me maybe slightly longer.  Aol certainly changed my life. Opened up a whole new world and gave me many many friends whom I treasure. So, keep it up and continue to have fun xxxxxx

I have been on AOL for a number of years. I kept seeing about the AOL journals and finally started one myself last April and I have met may new friends and have enjoyed every minute of it. Only thing is I sit to long with this bad back reading a lot of the journals. LOL. Dogs are smart. Our Jake used to get up and head for the back at night when he heard the AOL's Goodbye. Helen

People ask me why in the world do I pay such high prices when I can get something cheaper. Well, I do think it is too high. But the friendships I have been blessed with because of AOL is priceless!

I`ve had AOL for 3 years now but even though it`s not cheap AND I complain about it I wouldn`t change because I`d miss my journal and the friends I`ve made.  Jeannette was a great help to me also as she encouraged me to get started.  I`m glad you started your journal Jan, and I always know that Maurice will be interested in Jim`s fishy tails...lol! :-)

I've been with AOL for nearly a year now and in that time I too have made some great friends.  The best thing about it was I always wanted a web page and now I have my journal and my readers which I wouldn't be without :-)  it's a good way of life............

I feel the same way.  I've been with AOL for just over a year now, and it has changed my life too, definately :o)  I used to think that there was no point us having a computer, because 'what would we use it for?', lol, since having it there's hardly been a day where I don't spend hours on here.  Journal people are just fantastic, and seem to understand me sometimes more than my own family do - other than hubby of course.  I'm so glad that Jeannette - should say, the lovely Jeannette :o) - encouraged you to start your own journal, because I always enjoy reading what you have to say :o) :o) :o)
