Asewing machine,agirls best friend

Hello again,Maurice has gone fishing today with ,sister Jeans husband Pete,(it is so nice they get on so well together)I have the whole day to get some jobs done, thought I would go through my wardrobe, today put the summer cloths away into a suitcase in the cupboard in the hall,it contains winter ones at the moment ,but change over time is here I think.   So now you know what the pictures of skirts ,are doing there! These are some of the ones Ive made,I bought a pattern, last May from John Lewis,Macalls patterns were reduced,to half price on a pro mo I paid £3.50 for this one.I discovered some lovely materials on the market, for £1 a metre. So these summer skirts have been costing less than a fiver each ,with the exception of the the green one ,thats the embroidered green cord I told you about was more expensive but so much cheaper than the shops.           Yes ,since I retired I rediscovered my sewing machine,I made the bed head you saw at the back of the bed ,that Scooby sleeps on in our absence !! I also enjoy knitting and made a poncho in very heavy wool and telegraph poles, instead of needles(slight exageration) ,that made my wrists ache so was pleased to complete that, I make cardys to go with my skirts ,and have made some little jackets for baby Keira .I think I inherit my creative streak from my Granny,my Dads Mum.Yes I enjoy creating ,even if its only havoc !!!!! So now Im off to creat  a void in the ironing basket!!UGH .

Hope your day is creative folks   with love Jan xx

Hi Jan, I love your skirts, you're very clever! I've knitted on telegraph poles too, my wrists have never been the same since!! Hope Maurice and Pete have a good day fishing. Jeannette.

Were they the same telegraph poles I used to make a jumper with a few years ago? They were heavy weren't they!!!LOL!

I have used those telegraph poles, cannot knit like I used to, makes my wrists ache. You are clever,  I never could get the hang of sewing, somehow it was just not my thing but I wish I could. Sewing a button on is about all I can manage. Yes, Jan,you are still on the map, you are the fourth from the top. Can see you quite clearly. xxxxx

You made some pretty things. I used to do all my sewing when the children were at home. Since then I have lost all desire to sew. About all I do now is hem Ken's jeans when he get new ones as his size in in between what you can buy already hemmed so I cut the original hem off & turn it up another hem length. Have fun sorting through you clothes today while I clean our bathrooms LOL. Helen

Jan, nice skirts...I was happy when I moved here, after 20 years I finally had room to put my sewing maching together..the head into the beautiful maple cabinet.  About the only sewing I've done is years is to mend things and make baby bibs.  I used to sew more but never did like anything I made for myself.  I took all the sewing in high school, that I could...even made a coat.  But, it seems for right now those days have pasted.

I used to knit and sew but don't have much time or patience these days, apart from taking the odd hem up! I used to find knitting very soothing.

Jan
You have a real talent with that sewing machine.  A practical talent at that.  I admire your work and applaud your efforts.
