Sunday again

Because Maurice’s week end! was Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, (he works six days, then three off so his weekends are staggered) At least he doesn’t work nights any more …. I am all behind again, so if I haven’t commented on your journal yet, I will! I don’t like to spend all my time on here when he is at home, he works twelve hour shifts so is tired, when he gets in, so our days together are precious Having said that I left him on Wednesday afternoon, when I went to my over sixties club, but I know he enjoyed the time by himself, we all need some ‘me’ time don’t we?.

I don’t know what happened to Thursday we planned to go to town but it didn’t happen, but Friday saw us in Peterborough, in the pouring rain, we did some shopping in Queens Gate (the shopping mall),then as you guessed my Marks and Spencer’s vouchers were burning a hole in my purse ,I bought a top to go with the skirt Maurice bought me for Christmas ,and a super jacket ,with a detachable fur collar ,lovely for just now and still useful in the spring ,

We then went to see Aunty Kitty, when we got there she was just sitting in her chair dozing, I held her hand and was told to “stop that”! Maurice didn’t fare any better than I, it is so sad, for such a clever lady to end her days thus ….Old age can be so cruel.

After leaving Aunty Kitty we went to see Kate, who is recovering from this awful cold that struck us all, she approved my purchases from M&S ….

Yesterday I went to our town and saw that Lavender Blue had lots of sale goodies in the window, but didn’t take a pic at the mans request,

Today I am playing catch up, alerts , washing, should be ironing, but you know how I feel about that, am going to make a trifle for Pudding tonight to eat after our Sunday dinner ,My son Mark and his wife Chrissie will be here soon ,

And then this evening,at7.40 pm on BBC1 I am looking forward to watching ‘Lark rise to Candleford’ a new ten part memoir chronicling life in 19th century Oxfordshire, by FloraThompson, When I was working I was lent the book to read by a very dear resident, who shared my love of books, and we spent many happy times chatting about what we had been reading, I rang her yesterday to tell her it is on so Ruby is looking forward to watching it too I wish you all  Blessed Sunday with love ….

Why weren't you allowed to take a photo of Lavender Blue?

I remember reading Lark Rise when I was at school and it has been a favourite ever since.  The real 'Lark Rise' was called Juniper Hill and it is on the Oxfordshire/Northamptonshire border.

The skirt looks beautiful, I wish I was tall enough to wear things like that, come to think about it I wish I was thin enough to wear something like that!

I like the clothes you bought Jan...I do like fur collars but i need them to be detachable as they do begin to make me sneeze and annoy me...Alzheimers is so so cruel and i've known several people who have/do have it...I honestly think that death in these cases is a relief not to the person suffering as they don't have a clue but to the families...It's horrid to wish someone dead but with alzheimers i think it can be a blessing   Caff xxxxxx

Love the clothes Jan,I bought quite a bit of orange and brown for this season.I wear the long skits even though I am small.Thats why I like M&S they never need shortening in the petite range.I know you will look glamourous in them you do in anything I have always said so.I also love your new profile pic.I am sorry Aunt Kitty wasn't up to her usual self shame isn't it?Yes old age can be cruel I agree.Prayers being said for her.Yes I think all our working men like a little bit of there own space when they have days off.Happy to read you got out for a while tohgether anyway.Look after yourself.Prayers your health improves with each day too.I made a trifle Friday I usually do in case company pops in over the weekend. If not it doesn't take Rooster long to make quick work of it .I am slimming so it's out for me.Boo-hoo.I might try watching that program this evening. So take care God Bless Kath astoriasand http://journals.aol.co.uk/astoriasand/MYSIMPLERHYMES

I'm back Jan - don't have a heart attack lol.
Watched Lark Rise meself, read the book many years ago and still have it. Lark Rise (Juniper Hill in reality) is a small hamlet not far from me and Candleford is Buckingham - where I now live, in a cosy little bungalow. The Old Goal in Buckingham town centre has a permanent display of Flora Thompson's memorabelia & artifacts.
Take care.

Lovely catching up with you today Jan!  Oh those clothes are lovely!  I can never find anything that I like when I go shopping, or at least anything that I think I will look good in at any rate!  I'm like you, I find my time with my Todd very precious so I try to do all my online damage early in the morning before he wakes up!  That way all my free hours during the daylight hours are his!

Lovely outfits Jan!  Isn't 'Candleford' lovely?  I do like these period series we are being treated to at the moment.

You are brave though, going out in this harsh weather - I am still in hibernation so will no doubt miss those sales goodies :-(

My second grandchild arrived yesterday - a gorgeous little girl with lots of black hair.  She will be called Kiska (Kizzie) Jane Freya.

all the  best

There always seems a lull just after New Year then things start to speed up again.  I've been watching the other series 'Sence and Sensibility' :)  There are sad moments when you see a persons frailness through age.....kind of trips you up for a while.  Hope you enjoy your series Jan like I've enjoyed mine.   The outfit is great.......love the material and colours in the jacket :) Rache
