Cold and frosty Tuesday

Good evening everyone ,well winter weather caught up with us at last ,when I opened the curtains this morning I saw Jack frost had been busy with his paint brush .and though it looked  pretty it was very cold .Making me happy to be retired ,I dont need to go out until ,it warms up a bit

Maurice has gone off to work ,for the first of his three nights ,then he is to have a few days off ,the car is due its MOT  so ,once that is done ,we will have to go ,exploring again ,the nice thing about living here there is always places of interest to visit .I am still doing  my patchwork ,so am still keeping my new years resolution ,does it count as a resolution ,if its something you enjoy ?

Do you remember me telling you about the book about the Titanic Survivor, about Violet Jessop who was a stewardess on board various ships during the early 1900's,that I bought from the charity shop for 50p,written from Violets manuscripts by John Maxstone-Graham ,I made an exciting discovery .....

I think that is the signature of the Author ,and think it reads ~For Nichi bon voyage.always !

John Maxtone-Graham ,and then QE2..??????..2002

What do you think ? I am enjoying the book ,which starts with the Family leaving Ireland at the time of the potato famine ,and going to live in Argentina, when her father dies and they come to England, and her Mother struggles to bring up her young family ....Well its time for me to go and make myself some supper ,so I wish you all a very good evening and keep warm all of you ,with love from

Thankyou for my siggy Donna ,a nice warming drink on a cold and frosty night

You won't be making your fortune yet I'm afraid :-( but on the 'signed books' page, it does mention that he signed in red ink.
So, when we get around to meeting up, may I borrow it please?
I usually have a quick look at the books in that charity shop, but there are so many, you found a really interesting one there.
BRRRR - yes sit was cold today, even my bedroom felt cold, it was so hard getting up - even though I didn't really have to - being retired is great, isn't it! :-D
Really beautiful graphic, and is that a gingerbread man with your hot drink???

Definately a keeper if it's signed by the author and by the looks of it I would say yes you can see the J Maxtone Graham...keep it in a zip bag away from dust and air to save on decay...wonderful book tho. Beautiful purples/violet Rose..my favorite colors. :)))))Doreen

Makes you wonder what happened to the reciever of the book and why it was not kept. It's been pretty cool for several days here with the highs in the 40's with a cold wind blowing. It cuts me down to the bone. LOL. Hugs, Helen

what a brilliant find, I love reading books about times gone past, especially if they are baised on true facts,  I will have to start trawling round some second hand book shops to see what I can find
take care Lynne xx

That book was a good find, I've found three signed books like that, the most famous one was by Patrick Moore writing under the name of R.T. Fishall. I've often wondered why people give books like that away! I'd keep them for ever! I hope you enjoy reading it. Winter is upon us now, so cold out there now, can't we go straight into summer now?! It sounds like a fascinating book and may be worth something due to the siggy.  You'll have to tell us more as you go along with your reading.  It's been very cold and snowy here for the past week.  Guess that's the way it is supposed to be but I sort of got used to the spring like weather.  Love xx chris

Jan-- That sounds like an interesting book and then to find the autograph.  How cool is that?  We got a bit of unexpected cold and wintery weather here in Phoenix Sunday night.  Ice/Snow if you can believe it!  I don't blame you for bundling up and staying put.  Hope you had a nice bite to eat and are all warm and cozy! ;) De

It's nice to catch up on your last few entries!  I think you're right about the autograph on the book flap. How exciting!
I enjoyed seeing the pictures of the town center and the old movie theater.  Too bad they are tearing it down.  So many of the old buildings go to make way for apartments.
Hugs,  Kathy
