Graffitti & cleaning

An other Sunday and another weekend nearly  gone again ,Maurice is working ,I had a nice surprise yesterday,Kate and her husband Martin and my Grandson Matthew came to visit ,and after coffee and chat ,Martin took Kate and I up to town ,whilst they went to look a friend up at the football club ,Kate and I had a wander around the shops ,she got a whole load of bones from the butcher for Maddy her German shepherd dog, I took a few pictures that have been painted onto the boards that have been nailed onto the  doors and windows of the old cinama ,that is due to be pulled down, and flats built in its place ,I particulary like the one on the door, of a drain (a man made river ,to drain the fens) with the bridge and the wind turbines in the background ,and bull rushes in the foreground ,dont know whether you can see it very well .....

Woke up this morning and though it was cold out ,the sun was shining ,and it was showing up all the dust ,and the odd cobweb ,so I set too ,to get rid of them ,noticing the shades on our lamps were very dirty ,I leaped up on to the couch ,just like a young mountain goat  !! unscrewed the fitting and washed the shades so now they are sparkling ..Hey maybe I exaggerated about the young and  mountain bit !!......My favourite TV  programe last year was ~' Who do you think you are',where celebreties ,try to find out about their ancestors,it was on BBC1 ,I see ITV  have a similar version starting onTuesday evening at nine o clock to be called'You dont know you are born' which I am looking forward to...........This afternoon my son Mark and his wife came to visit ,so I have had a good weekend ,Im now going to prepare dinner for when Maurice gets home from work ......Janxx

You and your camera Jan!
Nice to see you pick up on things we see every day but our minds are too busy to appreciate them.
Brrr I thought it was cold this morning, took me all my time to get out of bed!
Roll on Spring!

Looks like some pretty art work that was wasted on the old
cinama. I love the flowers on your graphic. Wish I had a bouquet like that now to brighten up this dark rainy gloomy looking day we are having. Maybe I should clean up my lamp like you have done. Glad that you had a good weekend. Hugs, Helen

Back home Jan we had an old cinema and instead of demolishing they cleared out the inside and made a new indoor market out of the place. The exterior was painted up and Large pictures added to the wall in the form of a real of film showing on the old cini camer.Displaying all old shots of the old films which were hand painted which had been shown aat the cinema over the decades. It looked terrific and didn't spoil the look of the town with new flats etc which are normally built on spare ground now as you state.I think this was a brilliant idea, which came from local residants protesting at the demolishing of it,and idea's put forward. For once the Council listened.I am happy you have had a lovely weekend.Cobwebs whats them LOL!!!! The lamp looks spotless I am going to give you 10 plus points today Jan  for your work LOL!!! Shine a light didn't Jan do well LOL!!!I will watch out for the new show on TV thanx for that news.Take care.God Bless

I liked the Great Fen Project Art work one the best.  Very clever.  At least you now have it for posterity. I love the tag too....its one of the most beautiful ones I have seen in a long time.  I wish Spring were here too covering the land with her footsteps of colour.  xx Jeanie

Spring may seem a way off but I have Flags like the one in your grafic flowering in my front garden!

I like the Fens graffitti, there is such detailed work there, I wonder if they got permission to do it. We have some in our local park which was invited to be done, rather than the usual sort.

Hvae a good evening.

The grafitti is really artistic Jan, so beautifully done. What a shame about the old cinema, it seems a pity that our lovely old buildings are being pulled down for soulless modern flats. Ih well, I suppose the powers-that-be would call it progress...sigh.

I hate to see old buildings come down and new ones put in their place.  It's like a part of history going off to the rubbish pile.  The hospital where I work just bought and tore down a beautiful old brick church.  It was destroyed in a matter of days...
The hospital plans to expand the emergency department.  But meanwhile another historic building has vanished.    Linda in Washington

The graffitti was very well done Jan! We have a painting of a husky dog popping up all over Brighton, I've seen him three times now! He's well painted, don't know who did him though! It's a shame they're pulling down the old cinema, we have one old one left in Brighton with the old mahogany wood and red velvet seats. I love going there, it seems so special, not like the featureless modern picture houses. Have a good week and keep warm! And keep off the furniture too, no springing up on the sofa please! It sounds like you had a really nice weekend.  It's always nice to have family visit.  The Sunshine does show up the dust.  It hasn't been very sunny here lately so I suppose when it finally does come out I'll be seeing lots of dust too.  I try to keep up with it all, but in the dark things just don't show up.  'On Ya' - ma

I like the graffitti, colourfully done.  Also like that pleasant graphic, very summery.  Your lamp looks wonderfully bright. Rache

The graffitti we see in the city here is not the neat kind like yours is...very artistic.  Hey, you did a great job on cleaning that shade.  I can't believe how much dust gathers so quickly.

Does your butcher give you the dog bones for free?  Years ago, ours did...not they charge a dollar or two a pound.  It sort of annoys me.  Have a very good night!  Love xx Chris

It doesn't matter how good the graffitti is I think it still makes a place look run down.
You know what they say Jan -you're as young as you feel. When you've done cleaning your place maybe you could sprint round here and tosh up ours. B. x

I'm reallylooking forward to "You Don't Know You Were Born2 as well.  I just love these sorts of shows, but then I am a geneology nut!  I've been able to trace one line in my family back to the 1400's believe it or not!  It sure was nice to see the sun after all that rain and wind, even if it is alot colder!  Have a great day!

Oh Jan !  I hate to think what an uplighter like that would reveal in this house !  Very superior graffiti, and nostalgic old Thirties cinema, sad they're all disappearing - (she says from the comfort of her armchair, lol)  Bunny xx
