Happy Birthday Matthew

I know you have seen the above pictures before, on Sams Birthday ,Today Matthew ,is fourteen ,he is the first  son of my daughter Kate and Martin her husband,I think out of all our eight Grandsons Matt looks most ,like his late Grandfather Mick ,he would have been so proud of his youngest daughter and her boys ,he would have loved Martin ,Matthew was born with a narrow valve to the heart ,so hes been a regular visitor to Great Ormand street hospital ,in London ,he hasnt needed to go this year ,but has to go back again next year ,this hasnt stopped Matt ,he is a keen sports man ,he loves to swim ,and enjoyed his snorkeling experiance ,whilst on holiday in Alcudia recently ,he likes football watching and playing ,and also plays rugby ,he is a clever student always getting good grades along with good school reports ,I have just spoken to him on the phone ,where they are all spending a few days,in Skegness ,in Lincolnshire ,where their other Granny has a caravan,he tells me its raining there quite heavily ,it doesnt seem fair after all the hot weather last week ...speaking to him on the phone I hardly recognise him ,his voice has broken now ,along way from the little boy I used to look after ,so his Mummy could go to work ,we had a great time ,watching alllllll  ! the Thomas the tank engine tapes over and over ,If Ringo Starr ever lost his voice I could have done the narration , and we used to spend hours watching the real trains ,on their way to London ,and on the other line going North ...we liked Noddy too ,but not the Gremlins in the 'Dark Wood ',I made a Noddy complete with a bell on his hat ,who was much loved at the time ,though its been raining Matt tells me they have been shopping ,he has been spending his Birthday money .So a very happy birthday Matt with love from Granny Jan xxxxxx

Its raining here too today ,and has cooled down ,and is really quite refreshing ,so no need to water tonight ,we went out to the Lincolnshire Fens ,to a place called Gedney Hill yesterday,Maurice ,whos back at work for three days ,had heard of a new fishing lake ,and when we found it ,it did look good ,Ithink he would like to try over nighting there so it will be the tent ,and when the weather is nice again ,but will keep you posted on that ,This is the second time Ihave done all this ,I clicked save ,as you do ,and got ... blogs unavailable ...and the entry was lost ,Thankyou AOL ,So while the going is good I'll get going ,have a lovely evening everyone with love and

Jan xxxx

Happy birthday Matt. Cor, haven't been to Skeggers for years.
Next time, before you save your entry, highlight it and copy it, that way if AOL screws up you can always paste your entry into word or notebook. It will save you re-typing it all. B. x

Happy Birthday, Matthew!  What a nice tribute to your grandson.  I could feel your pride and love for him in your entry.  He sure sounds like a fine young man.  Wish we could get some of that rain here.  Oh, it would feel so good and would sweeten the air.

Happy Birthday to Matt, hope the weather picks up for him.

Jan, as I have lost hours of work on my Journals, sometimes in the middle. Try writing it all in Word, that way you have a much better selection of fonts for a start.

When you finish, copy and paste it into your new entry, then you can add in the bits and pieces of graphics where you want them. If it does go belly-up then, you can do it all again in seconds rather than hours.

Isn't it just amazing how overnight those little boys' voices just get so deep?  My son loved Thomas the tank also.  Glad you got some refreshing rain and cooler weather.  xxx  Chris

Hi all, just thought i would drop you a line, being as i have the computer all to myself until sunday when my boys get home. I have come home today so that i can get my typing done for monday. The boys and Martin wanted to stop with Nanny Pam for a few days so Maddie and I are home alone, having a girlie weekend. It's quite nice and it's very peaceful. Thanks to all who put messages on for matt's birthday. Whatever happened to my baby ah? I will make sure that he reads them when he gets home. Love you so much mum, hopefully see you tomorrow.

Hello Jan - your entry has made me remember how my Grandad would take me to the railway station to watch the steam trains (i can just barely remember it).  My nephew Tristan also loved Thomas the Tank Engine........ahhh more memories!
