One year ago today

Thank you Donna.

Like many of you that were able ,I watched the television coverage this morning,as we remembered the horrific events of one year ago today,at eight fifty three, bombs were simultaneously exploded on three seperate tubes, and nearly one hour later a bus was the target of these evil perpetraters, who in blowing themselves up ,also killed fifty two people, and injuring many many more ,people like you and me, going about their daily lives ,lives that have now changed for ever.

I watched ,as one couple from Peterborough  told their story ,Vince had gone off to work ,he actually works at Peterborough station, for some reason Keira took a later train ,she had had a busy week ,so had an extra hour in bed ,thus not catching her usual train  into London,so she was on one of the trains that was bombed ,but mercifully remembers little about it ,as it happened she was in a drug induced sleep for three weeks ,because of the horific injurys, she came round to find it had been necesary to amputate her right arm ,Meanwhile Vince back in Peterborough was aware of problems in London, when all Southbound trains were terminating in Peterborough ,he rang his wifes mobile phone that ironicaly was ringing ,but got no reply ,he then, as the awful facts explained them selves to him  ,rang her work place .It must have been the longest three days of his life when on the Sunday ,he was being interviewed by the police, one of the officers made the connection ,they had an unknown lady who had the keys to (I forget the make of car ),in her pocket,he went to London and there was nothing about her he recognised ,she was finally identified by dental records ,so one can only imagine her pain and suffering the last year ,God Bless them both ,they say they were always close, but this well ......it just for us to imagine !isnt it .Another Peterborough man died.. rest in peace James Adams I know your family and friends miss you .I am afraid there is so much evil in the world ,but there is so much good too ,Look how the services worked tirelessly to help the survivors ,and to rescue the bodys of those that stayed in that underground hell for many days ,Thankyou for these nameless people ,we dont know them but they all worked so hard and with compassion ,and for that we give thanks

    Love to everyone Jan xx

I listened to Vince & Keira's story on radio 2 at lunchtime when I was on my way home from work, so very sad but good that Kiera survived; I also listened to a woman who said that if they had not overslept (she forgot to set her alarm), they would have probably been on the train that blew up with their 3 young children on the way to the British museum........does not bear thinking about! I worry so much for our children and more so for our grandchildren......what is happening to our world?

Well written, Jan. It's one of those days where everybody knows exactly what they were doing at the moment of. A waste of life, for no purpose at all.

What a lovely entry!!  So many of us today took a few minutes out to remember the awful events of last year and to remember the people who's lives were so cruelly cut short.

Yes, it's been on the news over here today.  It's another one of those horrible  occurences we must never forget.  We must remember that there is an enemy out there, we must be vigilant and embrace everyday.  We need to hold our family and friends close and be thankful for the sacrifices made by others so that we can be free. It was a very sad day for so many people, as you say they were just ordinary people like us going about their normal lives. Bless all the families and friends left behind! Jeannette xx

I do remember that well, Jan.  Funny how life is never the same after a terrorist incident.  The USA is only beginning to heal from the 911 incident but life is so different since then.  What a world we live in...so different than when we were youngsters.   xxxx Chris

God Bless them all.  God bless Britian and all who had to go through such a disaster.  I remember the news and the horror of it.  Feeling as if 9-11 had happened again in your country.  Innocent people going about their daily lives being attached for what?  It broke my heart the same as 9-11 did.  We are such close allies that what happens to you happens to us.
Love,  Kathy
