Good Friday

Good Friday, used to be the most religious day in the church calendar, as a youngster we seemed going from one service to the next,no shops would be open, no buses or trains would run.

Good Friday, is the Friday before Easter and commemorates Jesus’ crucifixion .His body was taken down from the cross, and buried in a cave. The Tomb was guarded and an enormous stone placed over the entrance ,so that no one could steal the body,Good Friday is a day of mourning in church.During special  Good Friday services,Christians meditate on Jesus's suffering and death on the cross, and what this means for their faith,in some countries these are special ,with Good Friday processions,or re-enactments of the crucifiction .

Having said all that ,we have a busy very different day today ,My dear son in law Martin Kate’s husband ,is forty on Sunday and his Brother Jonathan was thirty last week ,so they are to have a joint

party ,at the Post office club tonight ,attended by many friends and family, We are setting off tonight in a taxi with one of Martins work mates and his Mum and Dad ,Alistair’s Mum and Dad that is! So I have to do my eyes and nails, by eyes I mean put my contact lenses in, I have been wearing my specs for ages now ,but like to wear the contacts when I go out it’s a vanity thing ! cause I still need reading glasses if somebody gives me something to read. And I have to press my outfit, oh and charge camera batteries.

Maurice is home from work and is asleep the longer he sleeps the better ,He will be able to enjoy himself tonight if he's able to get a good sleep today .So whatever you are doing today ,Iwish you a Happy and Blessed Day ,With Love From

I know Good Friday has really changed in temperament over the years.  The stores would all close from 12 pm to 3 pm when I was younger.  The world is just so secular anymore.  It's really bad in the States because of the separation of church and state.  Everyone is so sensitive toward mentioning any type of religious custom.  Chris

I saw two parades yesterday with people carrying a large wooden cross. I have not seen that for years. Things are different now aren't they. Easter Sunday everyone went to church. I wonder if the churches will be full this Sunday? I hope you had a good time at the party. It sounds good fun! Love Conniex

My brother and his wife are Jehovah's witnesses and they only celebrate Easter, but not Christmas. Apparently, this is because, somewhere in the bible it says "Celebrate my death, not my birth".
I'll have to take his word for it as I've never read the book. I've seen the film though and I think they must have cut that scene, lol.
Happy Easter, hope you had a good party. B.x

Hi Jan - it's nice to be reminded of how Easter used to be celebrated, I loved Easter as a child - lots of parades through the streets, the scouts, girl guides, brownies, boy's brigade, mother's union all led by the vicar and a lovely banner - what happened to it all?  PC gone mad????
Glad you had a bit of a knees up too :-)
