Escape and Relax!

Yet another entry inspired by Donna ,If you havent met Donna ,she is in my side bar ,she makes the lovliest graphics ,though how she finds time, I dont know she works full time and is always busy doing things with her sister and son ,She loves Hockey and loves to discuss her boys on the team .

Well back to the graphic, when Donna posted this with an invitation to snag ,I nearly forgot ,I sat looking at it and dreaming ,alot of years ago ,when my family were youngsters ...two boys and two girls... a lovely, lively bunch ,so life was pretty hectic, with  not alot of time to chill ,and I dont think it was even recognised then that we all needed our own space , You were a wife and Mum ,and all that it involved ,so on with it you got !!

I suppose I unconscioucely  made my own space and time ,I would take a bath ,usually when the kids were all in bed, when they were little ,in the evening ,and as they got older and were still up ,The bath room door was the only one in the house that had a lock ,Oh Bliss! no one could bother me ,I would be in there ,with my book ,some times a plate of sandwiches ,certainly a mug of coffee, and sometimes even a ciggy ,yes our bathroom was even furnished  with  some little fish ashtrays ,made by Wade ,a set of three given to me by my Aunty Marjorie about fourty five years ago !these are quite collectable now ,I still have them but only one is without a chip ,well they have lived in a lot of bathrooms .

And so back to the graphic, theres me with my pony tail rolled up into a bun ,the glasses didnt come till later ,and even then not those Nana Miscourie ones (apologies for the spelling )more like the Deirdre Barlow ones, then  I think ,(for my American friends ,a character from the long running soap Coronation street ,)certainly not Dame Edna ,anyway ,I wear contact lenses now ,still with glasses for reading ,so still have problems with the steam !Any way enough of my ablutionary habits ,I'm of to make dinner before my skin ends up like a prune !!

Have a blessed Sunday everyone and remember cleanlyness is next to Godliness !with love

The bathroom must have been a  sanctury for lots of  Mum's to get their own space ~ especially when you could lock yourself away ~ lol
~ could just imagine you with a plate of Sandwiches and a Mug of coffee plus a book ~ and even a ciggy ~ you certainly knew how to spoil yourself ~ Loved the graphics ~  Ally

My mum used to take a board in the bathroom with her. It fitted across the bath and was big enough to hold a book, an ashtray and cigs, and a cuppa. I even knew her to take a pack of cards in there on occasion, lol.

Sunday morning is my treat of the week when I have a nice long soak in the bath.  I take my cup of tea and some toast in there.  Like the idea of the board across the bath, I've never lost my toast to the bath water, but when my youngest moggy was a kitten, he tried to nab some and he ended up in the bath lol!  Ooh I love my Sunday morning soak :-)  Nice to know that you and I, at least, are so clean!
Lovely graphics as usual.

I used to like locking myself away in the bathroom when the kids were small. I also had a book shelf in the toilet!! I still read in there now, out of habit I think!! Jeannette.  http://journals.aol.co.uk/jlocorriere05/Welcometomytravels

Hi Jan, do you know I think you`re right.  I rarely had time to myself when my two were young and I can`t remember thinking it was something I needed either.  But with hindsight I should have found time to relax more.  I don`t think I even stayed in the bath long enough to read, though I should have!  Love the graphic too. :o)

My only private place was in the bathroom, in the tub when my kids were little, too!  Never failed, though...somebody always knocked on the door!  Most of the time it was my husband (at the time).  Seems I never got a real moment of peace, even when the kids were (supposed to be) in bed!  Interesting about the ashtrays!  Jae
