St Patrick’s day, Killarney …after the torrential rain of the last few days, well maybe not torrential, but certainly a steady rain but I was warned! We woke, drew back the curtains to the view of a beautiful rainbow over towards the Kerry hills, yes the sun was shining, made a coffee for me and tea for Maurice ,blew some smoke out of the window ,then got ready and down for breakfast ,We were told the parades would begin around mid day ,so off we went to explore ,found the most beautiful Cathedral and went in side and had a look around and some time for some quiet meditation .Walked back looking at shops and places of interest on route ,people were in the party mood ,handing out beads~ lovely green popper beads ,every one dressed in their best ,and funny hats were in abundance too ,We found a good place to stand and see the parade ,and then it began !The floats ,were amazing depicting lots of Irish history ,representing everything ,youth groups ,football ,Rugby , Hurley ,dancing girls ,and boys ,the bands ,the pipers ,the little Irish colleens dancing ,and the boys ,all the budding Michael Flattleys ,and singing along to the music, all the Irish songs and ballads, one little fellow who stood near me ,sang ‘The fields of Athenrie‘ really did make me shed a tear ,and then we saw HIM !  on the opposite side of the road to us! a colleague of Maurice’s  you come all this way, and you see some one who only lives a few miles away back home ! We wandered around after girls so fleet of foot it was a joy to see ,and the groups ,playing and singing all the favourite Irish songs ,and of course we’re are enjoying our Guinness ,what a day! One I shall never forget      With love Jan xx     and of course thank you Donna,(Donna's name in my side bar )

Lovely entry and the graphics are super. You really did enjoy that hoiday in Ireland. I was there for a week when I was 15 and had a great time we stayed in Dublin and we too went to see the Blarney Stone but I was too small to reach it. Love Joan.

By a lonely prison wall,
I heard a young girl calling,
"Michael, they have taken you away.
For you stole Trevelyan's corn,
So the young might see the morn.
Now a prison ship lies waiting in the bay."

Aww,got carried away there Jan,I love this song,it goves me goosebumps especially when everyone joins in singing.I love all things Irish. . .now I wonder why that is lol. . .Colleen
