How can you buy Killarney

We awoke at the Eviston House Hotel, a truly lovely place, we had our breakfast, and once more boarded the coach ,and set off for some more adventures ,We stopped off some where the name escapes me ,and found a post office selling shamrock ,to post ,one of the residents back home is Irish so we sent some  to her (she later told me she cried when she received it ,she hadn’t been able to wear the shamrock on St Patrick’s day for twenty three years)

so proudly sported it all day ,on we went ,now to Blarney ,I bought a waxed hat to wear as, the Irish mizzle was doing nothing for my hair !we had lunch after queuing ,then dashed round to see the ruins of the castle at Blarney ,here there was a queue also and as we were running out of time we had to dash back to the coach ,I have to admit I was very disappointed I so wanted to kiss the blarney stone! Especially as the folks back home were curious about the effect it would have on me !!

On we went until we reached Killarney, and Danny Mann’s hotel where we were to stay for the next three nights ,what a place with a real taste of typical Irish entertainment each night .

After breakfast the next day ,we joined the rest of the people on the tour who had booked for a Jarvey ride, Well this has to be experienced to believe, true Irish man driving this pony and trap, His name was Mick ,what else ? the man if he wasn’t so tall I would have sworn he was a leprechaun, and the banter all the way on the ride was hilarious, as we crossed a bridge, I remember he informed us…dat du warter dat soide of du bridge, was~ would you believe! Was exactly loike du warter on de uther soide of du bridge ! loses a lot in the telling but you can imagine!  , It was very windy, and during the course of the ride my hat blew off, he stopped and Maurice went back! Then Mick clicked for the horse to move on leaving Maurice running behind, and telling me he needed a new woife! , roars of laughter from the other four people sharing the ride, we rode on and saw the most wonderful scenery, and the ride then came to an end near a very picturesque Country house, where Queen Victoria used to stay and to visit Kerry ,our coach was waiting here with the passengers that hadnt taken the 'jarvey ride 'on then off we set for the wonderful coach ride around the  <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

‘Ring of Kerry ‘ ,this again was breathtaking ,the views ,(through the rain !)Were amazing, the hills the mountains and wheeey!! Down sheer, inclines to the lakes below, the heathers, the colours .Oh yes God is an amazing artist, and yes we saw ‘THE FORTY SHADES OF GREEN ‘ on that trip,....................... to be continued

Hi Joan, what a great entry, I really enjoyed the tour and I really felt as though I were there with you.  I used to have a photo of my Dad, a little worse for wear kissing the Blarney Stone.  He certainly had all the blarney despite only being about 1/sixteenth Irish, or there abouts...lol!  I`m looking forward to the continuation of your trip. :o)

Did you experience the Connor Pass? Sheer drops and single track..........try not to meet a coach, cos if you do you're buggered!!! Scary in the early hours of the morning (3 a.m. ish!!) cos all you hear is sheep baa-ing and pitch black!!!

I could just picture in the horse and cart you reminded me of the bit in The Quiet Man where John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara go for a ride with Barry Fitzgerald driving. one of my all time favourites they don't make them like that any more. Love Joan.
