Wot no Pics !

I have finally been able to use this lovely graphic, made my Donna (Donna is in my side bar )We had no rain at all ,thoughout April,is mother nature getting old? and getting her months muddled up ?because we are certainly getting lots of rain now ,as I type this ,it is coming down ,like stair rods ? (Do you remember stair rods lol).....The last weekend was a bank holiday ,meaning a Public Holiday Monday off work ,and for once Maurice was rotered off,so we decided to make the best of it ,(he has to work the next one )The plan was to chill on Saturday ,cos he'd just come off nights ,then on Sunday we would go to a craft fair at Sandringham, then on Monday we would do some gardening ,We went to Sandringham to the craft fair it was held in the park and not at the house ,remember I told you about our visit to the Queens home, the one she stays at over Christmas and New Year ,We decided to take Kizzie ,she has now had her jabs and is quite good on her lead, and she loved it ,when we arrived ,and parked up on the field directed by parking attendants, she had a good sniff around ,oh bliss all that lovely Dear poo,to sniff at ! then on into the Fair itself, boy was she made a fuss of every so many steps some one would stop and want to pet  her ,saying how lovely she is ,wanting to know her age ...breed ..name ..she loved it ! I took lots of pictures and have been kicked off twice ,once tying to add pictures and then again trying to put titles on them ,I have given up and will post another day when AOL is in a better mood ,We saw all sorts of crafts being demonstrated, but will leave that for when I can show you the pictures,we did go into a big tent with a notice out side that said cross stitch,I have done cross stitch in the past ,but dont like the counted sort !I was admiring all the lovely work that was on show ,and I came across this  its called Candlewicking, sort of a cross between embroidery and quilting

Then right at the back, kits were available to buy,,they had just one of these left, Maurice who was talking to a gentleman who had a guide dog,and his wife was saying she had made the one I was  admiring ,Maurice then saw the look of lust on my face and bless him put his hand in his pocket with the ever lovely words 'would you like it ?'and so on that happy note I will finish ,and because its raining .......This old chuck has decided to get on with her sewing.....With love From

With her dog at her feet ..lol ,this tag was made for me by my friend Debbie who is also in my side bar ,

Lovely graphics!  I had to get Todd to explain to me what "stair rods" were, if you can believe it!  I used to do candlewicking a long time ago.  I did quite a few pillows for our old sitting room, don't know where they are now, expect the new wife is enjoying them!  At any rate, that looks a lovely kit!  You will have to share the finished project with us when you are done!
Enjoy the rain!  We have had hardly any, but a few showers and we could sure use some!

Stair rods are coming back into vogue Jan.  It seems that the young ones want to put the character back into their period houses.  Wait utill they have to take them off and clean them with the brasso...Lol!
I like the sound of the craft kit you have just bought.  I have never heard of candlewicking before.  I'm looking forward to seeing yours finished.  What about little Kizzie?  The star attraction of the day....bless her.  I can jus see it now.  Lol!  I'm looking forward to seeing your photos of her and the craft fair too.
Drat!   AOL!!!!!!!
That's a beautiful tag at the top of the page.  Very serene and idyllic.
See you again soon 'Old chuck.'

Its more like April showers in Derbyshire today, lovely warm sunny spells then the heavens open and down it comes for a few mins then back to sunshine again, love the candlewicking picture, I have seen these kits in shops, never brought one as I am not to good at sewing, if Kizzie is anything like our dogs then she would have enjoyed being the star of the show
take care  Lynne xx

Sounds as if you had a lovely time at the craft fair. Your picture made out of the candlewicking is beautiful. I made part of a quilt out of squares I made doing that. I thought I had bought enough antique looking lace to join the squares with but when I looked the instructions were for a twin bed. Needless to say when I went back to get more lace they didn't stock it anymore. The quilt still lays unfinished. Guess I really need to take it apart and put different lace but I haven't found any more that would look good with it. It is a cream color fabric like yours and I haven't found any lace that color. I don't want the thin lace. Have a nice day. Helen

I wish I could sew, I'm rubbish.

As for AOL, isn't it annoying when you have an entry planned and the system don't work?

I love the Candlewicking.  The picture looks beautiful.  Something different to do.  I go crazy at craft fairs and have a room full of crafts just waiting for me to do them.  Someday...  I know your little Kizzee mus have loved the attention.  It sounds like a wonderful time all around.  We did get our April showers here, and the past week has been sunny, but mostly cool.  Today is a little warmer and there's cloudy skies, so maybe we'll get somemore rain.  Enjoy your cozy evening.  'On Ya' - ma

Nice pic Jan, and yes I remember stair rods lol!!

I don't know what stair rods mean.  I've never heard that before.  Must be an English saying??

That is the most beautiful Candlewicking (never heard of that either, but I sure like the name..lol) quilt I have ever seen (never seen one before either...lol).  At any rate, I love way they merged the two different types of quilting (or whatever you call it) together.  Very beautiful.

Sounds like you, Maurice and Kizzie had a good time at the fair! :)

Can't wait to see the pictures!

Sounds like a good time was had at the fair. Loved the Candlewicking! I myself have pretty much done it all, counted cross stitch (they have charts now that look surreal almost like actually paintings.) Embroidery, but never candlewicking. I wanted to try Quilting some time though. I bet Kizzy enjoyed this outing enormously. Can't wait to see the pictures. Your husband is a saint who loves spoiling you. (Hugs) Indigo

I'm glad you didn't let the bad weather ruin your weekend Jan! I've done the candlewicking, I made a thingy of a teapot full of roses with mine, not sure what happened to it though! I'm glad Kizzy got all the admiration and attention she deserved, every one loves a puppy don't they?! Jeannette xx  http://journals.aol.co.uk/jlocorriere05/Welcometomytravels/

That cross stitch is lovely.  I used to embroider.  My SIL was a beautiful cross stitcher and made me many lovely things.  How sweet that Maurice bought that for you.  I love things like that.  I'm laughing at taking Kizzie.  My Grizzly just would not behave one bit around other people and dogs.  He whines and howls.  Love xx Chris

The candlewick thing looks lovely, can imagine you sat there with Kizzy at your feet, stitching away.
