Counting my Blessings

What a lovely sentiment ,Donna, thankyou for this one ....

Maurice has gone off to work ,to start the second of three nights ,so here I am listening to the purr of my new washing machine , and posting my entry ...while Maurice was sleeping this morning ,I did a whole load of ironing ,so now I have the new machine,I am getting caught up .I finished knitting the gilet I was knitting,in the summer ,I had to put it to one side ,it was fluffy wool ,during the hot weather was sticking to my hands .Ally asked me for a picture once it was finished so now finally here it is , The boots ,Ainsley ,she of the shoe fetish, asked for a picture of them ,so here you are dear....

Now, back to Donna's graphic, see what it says......Give thanks for the simple things ! How often do we take time out to do that ? its so easy to say ,what it is we want ! but what about what we have ,Since Maurice works long and odd hours ,I say thankyou for the ability ,to not mind my own company,I enjoy my hobbies knitting ,sewing reading, and the time I spend on my computer and some TV programmes,so I give thanks ,After working for fifty years ,and bringing up a family,I give thanks  on a cold wintery November Monday  morning ,I can turn over and snuggle down for another hour !I am not young anymore ,but I dont feel old, with the aid of my specs I can see ,I can hear very well ,so be careful what you say ,when you think I cant hear you lol ,If I drink any thing hot or cold (since I had my teeth cleaned last Monday) I get a pain in a back tooth reminding me I still have teeth !I have a sense of humour letting me see the funny side of things that would otherwise be annoying .So yes Thankyou for many of the simple things ,and for being able to recognise them .

As well as simple things I will  also give thanks too for special things .I am blest to have a fantastic partner, and a  wonderful supportive family ,andlast but certainly not least friends I have lots of friends and since September 1st 2005 ,on the day I pressed save ..I now have so many more super special friends ...So yes today ...Thankyou !

With love Jan xx              PS .no closing graphic siggy today, file manager wont let me in ,but I am giving thanks I havent lost the entry whilst trying !!

Lovely entry Jan.  I like the gilet, well done.  I always try and remember to give thanks for the little things. Yes, last week it was our journals, now I have noticed a lot of trouble with file manager as well.  Sighs.

Beautiful graphic....we are blessed to have so much.  When I look around my place & see my washer & dryer, the TV, computer, plenty of food in the cupboards, a warm, comfortable bed to sleep in, a shower with plenty of hot & cold water, clothes to wear, a telephone to call friends or call for help, etc.  I am overwhelmed with gratitude.  When less than a mile away there may be a homeless person with barely enough clothes on to keep them warm.  Thank you Lord for all you have provided me with.  Linda in WA

Thank you for the lovely entry.  You are so talented.  That gilet is beautiful and I'm sure that with the colder weather you'll be enjoying it very much.  I too am very thankful for little things.  I still have to get out and about and go to work, but I have such a nice warm home to come home to evreyday.  'On Ya' - ma

A beautiful piece of knitting.

Always be thankful for the parts that make up our life, they may seem small but put together they make something wonderful.

I have great difficulty in seeing pictures since AOL decided to upgrade stuff Jan but I can see graphics and that's a lovely one again.  I like November nights and duvets you can lose time in.  I know you knit beautifully I remember the poncho.  Enjoy your quiet time it's earned. Rache

I love your gilet Jan and the skirt and boots will go so well with it. I love the bag too, very unusual! So many people are so materialistic they never think to count their blessings over things money can't buy like friends, health, humour, satisfaction etc. I love that room in Donna's graphic, reminds me of the old ranch museum I went to on the Argentinian pampas! Aw this is truly a beautiful entry Jan. Yes, we must give thanks for the simple things in life and I believe that leads to contentment.
Once again, a beautiful entry and reminder that the little things we take advantage of in life are those things we should be truly grateful for.

I love your post and yes, we all have so much to be thankful for.  We need to count our blessings once in a while.

What a thought provoking entry, Jan... :)  Something we all need to remember to do, is to be thankful for the little things as well as the big.  All are blessings.  I had never heard of a gilet until you typed the word here.  If I had not seen the picture, I would have had to google it! lol   Very nice,Jan!  Love the skirt, boots and purse as well!

Thank you for this thoughtful entry today!  I am green with envy that you made that gilet.  We call those vests.  I only know how to crochet and certainly no clothing items other than hats and scarves.  You are very talented!

What a lovely entry... yes the simple things are the  most important... sometimes we forget this and take our "simple"
life for granted.. there are many folks who would give an arm and a leg to be able to have the simple life....

Yes, Jan, there's such comfort in simple things.  The summit of my ambition at the moment is to keep the cold at bay.  Your lovely gilet looks so cosy.  My handbag looks like a road accident !  Bunny xx

I count my blessings every day too. I have too been fortunate. I have 5 children , 1 grandchild and many friends. A wonderful Husband and a comfortable life. But I still have room to help others and to listen to others. These days life is too busy and people don't seem to talk as much as they should do.

Jan that was so sweet.......the lay in bit mmmmm........can't wait for that....everything you have said is so simple and so true as well. I love all your clothes and boots too! Linda xx

Gilet?  Looks like a vest to me.  I could never knit anything like that.  All of my projects have 4 corners, no curves or cables, and it tends to get tighter on one end.  Oh well, we can't ALL make gilets.  I can, however, make giblet gravy... does that count?
I live a very simple life, and for that I am VERY thankful.  What fun to wake up happy every morning.
Love ya,
Dorn
