Maurice starts work at six o clock in the morning so he leaves home early, and doesn’t usually wake me, but rings around nine am to say good morning, and check we are OK ,he asked what my plans were for today ? well I said hmm I might go shopping and spend lots of money ,or I might go back to bed with my book ,or I might do some washing cos I’ve run out of ironing ! Or I might do some sewing, I am making a patch work quillow as Marie Alice Joan once suggested and kindly sent me the instructions (a Quillow is a quilt which folds into a built in pocket to form a pillow) “Use me as a pillow, unless you get cold, then pull out my stuffing and gently unfold, I’m a lap quilt now with a place for your feet, and when your all done, fold me back nice and neat “,
I can’t take the dog out for a walk, as she is in an interesting condition, I will vacuum later, and I cleaned the cooker yesterday (as well as my halo!) I hate that job, who does? ….
Mort, dear man awarded me with a caring friend award so I think while I am machining my patches together I will be thinking who among you, to pass on this award to, and that is hard because you are all so caring ,and so instead of just talking about it I had better get on ,So as usual to you all love from
Thankyou to Win for my siggy today .

I wish I could sew and make things like you do. I can't even sew a button on a shirt. Now, isn't that pathetic? LOL Enjoy your weekend.

Hi Jan your quillow sounds very interesting and will be very hand come the winter when we are trying to keep our heating bill down to a reasonable level. I love to cosy in with my crocheted rug on a winters night you get sooooo comfy. I make a patchwork duvet cover years ago but did enjoy doing it. take care Love Joan.
Can't wait to see your finished quillow. You do such lovely work, I'm sure it will be beautiful! Have a great weekend. ~~Kath~~

Oh, a quillow, how interesting, it sounds lovely and I would love to see the finished article. You are so clever. Eileen x
Jan you have a proper sized sewing machine don't you???? Am looking for one but to sew through card with...Well more to the point to sew through a layer of paper, card then vellum as well LOL...Oh and with metallic threads to boot...I saw a mini sewing machine in john lewis but am not sure if it would be up to the job...The sewing machine person is on holiday just now (typical) and i just know i will forget to ask next time...I've been forgetting to ask in there for weeks now (old age <g>) Do you think your machine could cope with something like that???? I do have this feeling that i will have to shell out for a proper sized machine that will cost me a fortune...I do have a sewing machine but it dates from the 60's and is very tempremental, lets just say it is ok for doing repairs to seams with and not much else LOL...Cleaning the hob and oven UGHHHH!!!! Ironing EEWWW!!!! I loathe either of those jobs...Quillow sounds really intriguing looking forward to seeing pics of it Caff xxxxxx
Looks like you have a number of things you can do. I like the one that puts you back in bed with a good book...lol.
Hugs, Joyce
I admire people that sew! :) I wish I had the time and patience. No matter what you do, I hope you have a great day! :) Julie
Hi Jan ,you look like you have had a busy day with the sewing machine ! Good girl for cleaning the cooker and your halo !! We have Dan and Maisie to sleep over tonight ,Have a good weekend ...loves ya ........Love Jeanxx
I have never heard of one of those Jan.No wonder the ironing piles up LOL!!! You are always busy with something.ENJOY. Have a great weekend.Take Care God Bless Kath astoriasand http://journals.aol.co.uk/astoriasand/MYSIMPLERHYMES
Hi Jan,
The Quillow sounds unique. Will be anxious to see pictures of it, and maybe the directions to make one. I used to make quilts years ago, but now arthritis won't let me. My daughter enjoys making quilts on her machine, but I did it the old fashioned way with quilting frames and a needle. LOL Enjoy your weekend.
Frances
Tomorrow I'll come by, have an orange and watch you sew. LOL Linda in Washington
Hi Jan, whoa.... the sparkle from that halo is blinding.....he hee!! Sounds like you had a great day lined up with all that sewing. I like the sound of that Quillow - lets have some pics when its finished ! and Congrats on your caring award, you certainly are one of the most loveable and caring people i know in JLand :o)
Luv Jaynee X
Loved the concept of the quilt pillow. At the moment doing washing is the last thing from my mind, it's so hot and sticky here. It's suppose to rain but I haven't seen the forcasted rain for a couple days now. Wish it would, might cool down a few degrees at least. Pickles doesn't like going out when the weather is like this either, who can blame her..I'm sure she gets toasted with her blk fur. Have a great weekend hon. (Hugs) Indigo
I love doing nothing all day long! I get so much accomplished. -Karen
Hi Jan, Polish up that halo, you deserve it! Isn't it nice when you have a choice of what you're going to do for the day?! I think I would have chosen the quillow too. I'm a bit odd in that I like ironing, I just HATE to put the things away afterwards!
Hope you had a good day, whatever you decided on! Love, Pat http//journals.aol.co.uk/pm71blackfen/ramblings-from-pat/
So good to catch up with you this morning Jan! I am so glad that you are finally getting around to making your quillow! I bet you will love it when it's done! I think it's so sweet that Maurice calls you to see how you are after he gets to work. Todd would probably do that too, but my boss wouldn't like it and so he doesn't . . . but I do get the odd furtive text or two! Congrats on the award. I know what you mean about not knowing who to pass it on to. It's a hard call and if you are like me you want to give it to everyone! Have a lovely weekend and enjoy every minute of it. May the sun shine!
love,
marie

Wini is getting so good at tags. That sewing one is so cute. I can't imagine you doing nothing, Jan. I can't wait to see your finished product. Love xx Chris
OMGG... I got in! LOL... Aww so sweet to see my tag in this entry. It really goes with what you are writing about. It is nice to see people who still sew. I use to sew for myself & my girls all the time... fun clothes, formals, designer clothes. Sometimes I am tempted to go back to all that sewing. lol... Plz give instructions for that quillow. Sounds awesome & the poem is great. Love the web pieces. LOL @ spiders rock! What is on the red pieces? Wish I had your domestic goddess energy! Just reading about it got me tired, but since you are married, you probably get all that energy from all that hugging & kissing. LOL
xx
Win =.)
That's a gorgeous sig. love those little mice sewing away!
Wonder if Pat would like to pop around to my house and do all my ironing - I hate it!
I have two sewing machines, both extremely ancient, but in fine working order, I used to love sewing, but doesn't seem to be much need nowadays - the computer has taken over my life!
all the best
Freda
Jan I love Win's tag she made for you ~ it suited your entry perfectly ~ I am longing to see the finished quillow ~ it sounds great ~ and looks like you have a lot of work ahead of you ~ Ally x
Hi Jan, I'm back! You've run out of ironing?! I never do that! Lol! Sounds like you have enough there to keep you busy for a while. Have a good weekend! Jeannette xx http://journals.aol.co.uk/jlocorriere05/Welcometomytravels/

you are more than deserving of the award jan you care about people. take care of yourself mort xxx
I do not know how on earth you can read all your comments. Isn't it nice to have so many friends!!! I can barely sew a button on so I consider you extremely talented. That quillow souinds like it woild be complicated but anything that involves sewing sounds that way to me. I am so glad that you stop in for a comment on my Journal. I truly am so glad you decided you liked my Journal. I wish I had half your talent . Lucy
Can't wait to see your quillow. With all your choices of what you could do today, I think choosing sewing was the best one. Dawn
NEXT!!! Finally, a chance to visit your journal, Jan. I'm sorry it has been a while.
I love, Love, LOVE the quillow idea and the poem is precious. :) I also adore your siggy with the sewing machine. That is sweet!!!
So, now that I see your sewing machine (the real one, not the siggy one), I have to ask what brand and model is it???? I'm kind of keeping my eye out for a new machine but just don't know what to go with when I'm ready for one. Do you like it?
Love and hugs and a big thanks for your patience!
Sheila
You are lucky if you are looking for something to do! I am always happy doing nothing! I just devote some days to reading a good novel. Try it it is good therapy..trick is not to feel guilty when spending a whole day reading! Love Conniex
Quillow...Interesting concept. Wish I could sew. Whatever it is you ended up doing, I'm sure you were content. :)
A Quillow sounds like a really cool! I always have to have something over my legs and feet. Can't wait to seen teh end result : ) hugs, Bethe
thanks for visiting my journal again. I can't sew for nothing. My grandma was a seamstress she was so good. She passed away many years ago but I will always remember how good she was. She made my 8th grade graduation dress, I'm now 49 and I still have it in my cloest.
Hi Jan,
I have been away on holiday. I love patchwork, I would love to see your finished Quillow. Could you post the instructions so that we could have a go too please?
