Pictures ,

Thankyou for this lovely Graphic Donna ,and yes it is raining !

On Behalf of Mike and Jackie ,Maurice and I ,''THANKYOU ''so much  for all of your comments on the loss of our Aunty Kitty ,what a comfort to hear from you all ,believe me it does make a difference ,hearing from you all showed me how J Land is such a caring place to be ,again thankyou .

Aunty Kitty's funeral is next Tuesday ,at 9.30 am .

Many of you have asked what sort of nurse Kitty was ,well from, staff nurse to Sister ,and finally matron ,where I hear she was fair but firm ,very firm ? says Maurice ,to Mike and I as children !! She was Maurice and Mike's Mum's little sister ,she never married ,well only to her career,at which she excelled ,she went through many aspects of nursing ,ending up in mental health care ,She actually nursed Spike Milligan ,and commented, I didnt like him  very much !!

Also I was asked had we got any photograghs of her in her uniform ,Bethe helped me with these ones I scanned ,thankyou Bethe  http://journals.aol.com/sunnybethe/palm-harbor/        Do you like the picture at the top of my entry ,it was Aunty Kitty's Mike gave it to me because he knew I liked it ,it is by an artist called Tony Sheath,I looked him up on the net ,and he is quite renowned for his paintings of the countryside ,I just love it ,and will always think of Kitty when I look at it .......

Aunty Kitty is on the left with her arms folded ..on number one

on number two she is in the forground....then on the  right, and the bottom one is at a Ball she is in the siver evening dress ,the men are eminent surgeons

Hope you enjoyed looking through the album with me today ,

as ever lots of love from

Aunt Kitty was certainly a beautiful woman. You'd never believe she was that frail old lady we've seen in your journal so many times. Bless her, she's at peace now and Maurice and his family, and you of course, have got cause to look back on her with pride and love. You certainly had to be tough to be a matron in those days. I remember when I was in hospital after giving birth, even the patients stood or sat to attention when the matron came in! Lol! I love the painting, it's very bright and I always love countryside paintings. I hope all goes well at the funeral next week, I'll be thinking of you all. Jeannette xx

Thank you for the pictures of Auntie Kitty in her nursing days, Jan.  I know it was a strict hard life, but didn't they look glamourous!
Lovely painting- the embodiment of winter, with the woodsmoke rising.
Hope the funeral turns out to be a celebration of the life of a wonderful person.

Jan the pictures are amazing. Your Aunty kitty looked so beautiful. Funny about nursing Spike Milligan, I, too have someone close to me around my age that did the same! Isn't It a small world?. I hope you stay strong Jan. It Is such a sad time when we have to say goodbye. I, for one, and know many more people also, will be thinking of you on Tuesday. Love Pam xx

My Mom was a nurse in approximately the same time as your Aunt. My Mom also ended up in Mental Health. I always thought that was one of the MOST challenging of all the different types of nursing one could do. I applaud your Aunt for that. She had quite a life!
Love the picture you have hanging. It looks so peaceful! I would hang that in my den.
Take care of yourself. I know this is a hard time for you and your family.

Jan, thanks for sharing the photos of Aunt Kitty, it is good to look back on a life well lived.  The picture is lovely, Have you ever seen any Martin Taylor paintings? I'm sure you would like his work, he is one of my favourite artists, but I will never be able to afford an original painting

Hello Jan,
I enjoyed my browse through your album today.  What a wonderful person your Aunt Kitty was.  Those were the days when nursing was regimented and everyone was kept on their toes for fear of matrons wrath.  Lol!
I hope Tuesday goes well for all of you, and that you are able to celebrate her life by remembering the good times..not the bad.  She surely was a special lady to all of her family as this lovely entry portrays.
May she rest in peace.
God bless her.
Hugs to you...

The painting is a lovely momento to have from Kitty, as are the photos. Hope the funeral isn't too emotional for you. I have to admit to always finding a sense of relief after a loved one's funeral. A real sense of laying them to rest and getting back to just remembering the happy times now the pain and illness is over.

Love Linda. xx

Jan, so sorry to hear of the loss of your Aunt Kitty, she sounded a fine lady.  My thoughts are with you.
I love the Lily of the Valley graphic.  The photo Mike took is not a Lily of the Valley, it is a shrub that he came across and we do not know the name of it.

Hi Jan, I think I commented once before but I am going to again.  Your pictures are fascinating.  I had some very old ones  on Picasa but when My computer more or less crashed, I lost everything.  Fortunatly I have real pictures I can scan and put in my new tower when I get it.  I love hearing from you all and as I said in my Journal this morning, if I am gone for a while you will know I will be back. This one will either crash again or I will be installing my nr=ew tower.  That should be interesting.  Lucille4364
