I love this graphic from our Friend Donna (our garden swing has hibernated now for the winter )
I went to the over sixties club again yesterday, I enjoyed it too, and didn’t get so wound up before I went this time so I must be getting better ,though I still find mornings hard ,I have said I will attend the Tenants AGM on Saturday ,and have to leave at nine o clock ,that will be a test !Yesterday afternoon I took a bowl of fruit ,it was our Harvest Festival ,and we had a service ,then after tea all the produce we had taken was auctioned off and was great fun ,I bought some mint in a pot ,and a jumper for Aunty Kitty !!I know a jumper at a harvest thanks giving lol .
When I got home I received a very sad phone call from my niece Bridget, to say that her Father Aubrey had passed away the previous evening, Aubrey or Ben as he was fondly known in the family, was the older brother of my late husband Mick, and when Mick died he was the brother who helped my sons and I organise Mick’s funeral ,and was always a rock to us ,I then had the sad duty to ring around to tell my children the sad news ,except Mark ,who is on holiday in Egypt with his wife Chrissie ,we decided to text them later in their holiday depending on the date set for the funeral
This entry I planned to do last evening but obviously didn’t feel up to it, so here we go …..
Many years ago ,probably about fifteen years ,My Daughters cooker broke down, I bought a second hand one from a friend who’s Dad had died ,for fifteen pounds ,she took one look and said no thanks Mum ! So it went into the garage, only to be used by me when mine broke down! , I have used it since, it has moved house three times with me! But as I told you in my last entry we have bought a new cooker, The sad thing is every thing on the old one still worked, I felt as though I was kicking out an old and faithful friend ,however the new cooker is lovely , I told you I had found all my plates in the shed when Maurice was moving it, sol I washed down the walls ,(not well enough judging by some of the pictures lol prompting us to think about redecorating sometime soon ,it doesn’t look to bad to the naked eye ,but on the pictures I can see the muck lol ) So I am now going to try to add the pictures for you to see (warts and all ) The sun is shining here ,and I hope you are having a good day wherever you are as usual …love from
And this lovely siggy was made by my friend Debbie ,hasnt she come a long way ,with her graphics ?

They don't build anything to last these days. The new cooker looks great. Jan, you are a very brave lady, all those plates will take hours of dusting - but they make a lovely display.

my first cooker was a white one from my nans sister, it was old fasioned ,it had a grill on top, and i loved it, it was so homely, these days appliances can be so clinical. still i love my new cooker also, it needs a bloody good clean inside though! Beckie x
What sad news Jan...I'm so sorry at your loss my friend.
I loved your plate collection. You gave yourself a big task hanging them all up.

A bittersweet entry, Jan; so sorry to hear about Bill. Someone like him leaves a big gap to fill.
Loved all your pictures of plates. Something to collect without spending a fortune. I have 11 in an old cabinet. Room for one more!
AND, the washing-up! Just like here. Oh, and I have a 48 yr old fridge still going strong. They don't make `em like that any more.
Bunny xx
Happy cooking on your new stove..looks like a nice one.
Pretty plates as well.
Your new stove looks great! If the old one works good I'm sure there is someone who will be able to use it. I LOVED seeing your plates. What a beautiful collection! I really love plates and have a few myself. Not such an extensive collection as yours, though.
I'm glad you enjoyed the club. Mornings are bad for me, too. I still find it hard to get motivated in the mornings. I wonder if that will get better?
Have a good week.
Love,
Pam xoxox
What a nice way to decorate your walls. It is a very nice collection and from the sounds of it has nice memories too! I know that we all hate to replace our old appliances. I recently replaced my fridge. The old one worked too, but out it went. The kitchen looks nicer with something new in it, but I wonder will the new one last as long as the old one did. Glad you are better and getting out, but sad for the news of your loss. Take good care ! 'On Ya' - ma
Lovely to get your updated news. Your plates look good on the wall. I remember that Mum and I had a rather old cooker befire we left Scotland and gave it to my friends young daughter who was just getting married....it was almost same as your "old faithful" and she used it for years. Wonder how long the new ones will last. Love Sybil xx
So glad you are feeling a wee bit more like yourself. Now don't overdo the cooking with you new cooker ha ha. Loved you plates I have just one and its in the cupboard just now you have made me want to fish it out again. LOve Joan.
Happy cooking. Take care.

Sorry to hear about your brother in law Jan. It sounds like he was a real gem. (((HUGS))) Love the new cooker! It looks like a really nice one! I know how you must feel though, getting rid of old faithful there! Love the plates too! I like those types of things. There is always a story behind each one and they have such sentimental value, or at least they do to me! Hope you have a lovely weekend!

Sorry to hear the news of Aubrey,he was always a friendly and genuine man.
Your new cooker looks lovely ,I know what you mean about the old one still working but having to go .How lovely to see the plates again ,bought back some memories , you do have some unusual ones. That was a kind gesture for Jason to buy you the flowers.Hope Aunty Kitty likes her jumper .Your graphics are really nice ,lovely to talk to you on the phone last night .......Love You ........Jeanxxx
Wow, love your new cooker but have to admit feeling sorry for the old and trusted friend! Can't believe you had such wonderful plates packed away, they are beautiful and should be on show. Sorry to hear about your loss, age doesn't make it any easier to bear and he will be sadly missed. Eileenx
(((Sorry for your sad news Jan))), I find it very hard to get rid of old faithfulls :) Rache
Wow the cooker you (we) picked certainly does look lovely. Glad you like it. The plates took me back to my childhood when you used to have what seemed like hundreds on the wall. It really made me feel old. I feel really sad about uncle Aubrey and feel like yet another piece of my dad has gone forever. Chin up ah! Love you both to bits. Have a lovely weekend if i don't speak to you. Your rhubard. xxx
Sorry about the death but glad to read you are up and around. Take care, Paula
Sorry about your loss, Jan. I'm glad you are continuing to recooperate from your anxiety. That is a tough one to get through, and thankfully those little pills do help, don't they?
The plates, etc are lovely. So interesting. You have quite the collection! :) Thank you for sharing them with us!
Hugs

Lovely plates Jan, I used to collect them, but the last time I took them down to wash, I didn't put them up again and they now reside in a cupboard. Your 'old faithfull' looks very much like my cooker - as you say, when everything works, it's so hard to cast off, which is why I have never done so, although I often look at new cookers and wonder......
So sorry to hear about your loss, how hard it is to say good bye to a loved one. Glad to hear that you are seeing the light at the end of your dark tunnel Jan :-)
I did a new blog, but Jean said she didn't get an alert, so I guess they are not going out. It has been lovely working in the garden these last couple of days, but cold and overcast today :-(

The plates are great Jan, and fancy you and Ally being named after a plate! Lol! Thanks for showing them, I love looking at other people's plates, I have a few of my own. I'm sorry about Ben dying. It's so sad to hear that a member of the family has died. Your new cooker looks lovely, I'm sure it'll soon become an old friend like your old one! Glad you're feeling a little better now. Have a good weekend! Jeannette xx
Sorry about your loss. I really enjoyed looking at your pictures! :o) Thank you for sharing them. :o)

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. Very sad, indeed.
Your new stove is beautiful. I'm sure you will enjoy cooking on it. Your plate collection is lovely. I'm sure it's fun to have them up on the wall so you can see them again. Do they bring back a lot of memories?
Hugs, Kathy
I'm very late, I'm sorry, but your new stove is very nice.
I love that signature graphic, and the one Donna made. They're both so lovely with the animation.
I hope you're having a Happy Sunday, take care.

Sorry to hear your sad news Jan. x
Isn't it strange how someone called Aubrey is called Ben by the family. My father in law was named Albert but everyone new him as John.
As for the cooker, you should have put the old one on Freecycle:

Love the new stove. Took me a moment to realize what you where talking about , until I seen the pictures. It would seem Brits call them cookers, we call them stoves or ovens. Love that top graphic from Donna too. Your pictures of your plates are lovely. What a unique collection. (Hugs) Indigo
Hi Jan,
Thank you for stopping by my journal. Your journal is lovely. I am enjoying reading your entries. I especially like the pictures of the puppy dog.
