I think we have all had problems as blogger did change a few things. There are now two modes to be in when entering a post. The little signs at the top say edit html or compose view. It sounds like you were in the html view. Just click on the compose view and that should liet you see your pictures instead of numbers and letters. I hope this helps you.

Jan, i found this site useful when I tried to post pictures. Haven't done it for about a year but it did work for me http://www.google.com/support/blogger/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=42472

Dont know if you have Picasa, but loading from that is so much easier than blogger is, You can download Picasa free too.
