Such a nice day

Look at Donnas busy Santa dashing up and down ! I know the feeling its what I've been doing all week.Monday morning I had a phone call from a lady to say it was The Christmas Womens Institute meeting ,and if Iwould like to go ,she would pick me up at seven ,fifteen ,so I went and really enjoyed myself, the drama group did their  panto it was so funny I have some pictures to be shown another time .

On Wednesday Maurice and I went to the Tenants association lunch ,which again was nice meeting all our friends and exchanging Christmas cards ,After we left we called round to see Aunty Kitty who you know is in a care home ,she was in a great mood, considering she had bronchitis the last time we were there, and she was quite poorly ,but she has bounced back yet again ,she is so amazing for a very frail eight six year old.

I have enjoyed all these fuctions ,but today had to be the best .My friend Debbie who lives near me ,invited me to her son Jasons Christmas concert at a church in Huntingdon Jason was eighteen last month and attends a special needs school near the church we went to today ,the church was packed with the family and friends of these children ,and the children themselves ,their problems are many and varied , and on many levels ,and some of them are in wheel chairs some deaf or blind ,but the thing that came over today was happiness ,those kids in spite of all their problems were so happy ,and they sang and signed as they sang, they clapped and is was so humbling ,There were readings  Ok maybe just a few words or  even  a sentence telling the Christmas story ,but those kids did it ! and the pride on their faces ,oh yes the true love of Christmas was in that church today , the teachers and helpers are Angels ,Jason is such a sweet ,happy boy he was delighted to see his Mum and I there today, as you can see from my pictures ,So yes I had the nicest day today ....have a great evening everyone with love

Oh Jan it sounds like you had a wonderful day today, I miss going to the nativity plays at schools, every year it always used to choke me up just watching them, they put their little  hearts and souls in to performing for their parents, families and friends and the teachers so well with them, and the smiles on their faces tells another story altogether,
thankyou for your Christmas card,
take care Lynne xx

It's so humbling to see kids like that enjoying themselves and staying so happy despite their handicaps. It puts all our own troubles into perspective doesn't it?  Thanks. B. x

There is something so wonderful about special needs kids, they have an innocence you don't see in mainstream children past the age of six. I just adore the way they are so pleased with themselves when they manage to complete a task that was a bit difficult.

Our main college in Worcester has a section that trains SN teenagers for jobs in the catering industry. They have them running the college restaurant on  Monday nights. It's a wonderful night to go, although I usually end up shedding the odd tear into my napkin.

How touching. Handicaped children are so appreciative. My husband's youngest brother was severly mentally handicaped but he was so appreciative of everything. Even a new haircut brought such joy to him. Paula

I have always loved attending the shows that the SEN schools put on up here...Firstly both the boys taking part in the nativity at the SEN nursery they both attended...Then mikeys shows at his previous SEN school and the one he is at just now...This year they decided against a christmas show and are doing one at easter instead...Every child gets a part and they sign during all the songs as well as sing...Kerrys shows were special too but somehow seeing those children who have such profound difficulties and far more than either mikey or garath have is just so moving...Glad you enjoyed the show and found it so special    Caff xxxxx
