A sunny Monday

I got this one from Donna the other day ,and it so looks like our garden in the evening ,The nights are drawing in now arent they? and soon we will alter the clocks again ,surely we could do away with that silly custom now ,it was set up in the war time in order to gain more time for farmers in the mornings ,but now isnt it just an inconvenience? We all take time to adjust ,mothers with babies say it puts feed times out of synch,as it does with animals ,and I can remember doing nights at the nursing home ,I always seemed to get the shift with the extra hour !

Maurice is off today ,he has gone fishing with Pete Jeans husband ,and so far it has stayed fine ,though he rang me earlier to say it was very windy ,I declined his kind invitation to go this time I am afraid I am a fair weather fish wife (lol),I dont fish anyway ,so decided to stay at home and keep my knitting wool dry ,he has taken a flask, as there is no one to man the little gas stove ,he wouldnt take time out from the fishing ,and lots to eat ,so we expect them at dusk all worn out , mucky ,and starving hungry !

I have been wondering about our friend Sandra all morning ,how she is getting on at work ,her first day ,I feel sure she will come home saying she loved it ,but no doubt she will be tired, there is always so much to take in at first on a new job,but by the end of the week, it will all have fallen in to place .

Are you watching Jane Eyre,I am enjoying it but taped last nights episode so still have that to watch ,what a treat ,we watched Cracker instead ,very violent and controversial, but hey ....We have had two episodes of casualty over the weekend ,cant believe thats been running twenty years now ,can remember when Robson Green played the part of the porter ?and went on to do Soldier Soldier and then many other good parts ,even having us all swooning over his singing prowess with whats his name Jerome ,then there was Brenda Fricker who also did great things remember her in my left foot ?

Well I have waffled enough ,I have another load of washing to put out ,it sunny here now, after the rains and storms over the weekend ,so I will wish you all a good Monday, and the week to follow with love

Morning Jan, just stopped in to see what you were up to!
Have a lovely day.

Loved Cracker, although it was a bit political.  I can see ITV getting a few complaints about it.
Even I can remember the luscious Robson in Casualty, so I must be getting old!  Think he's wonderful in Wire In The Blood.
Hope Maurice manages to catch some big 'uns!
Hugs,
Ains xx

I think it is high time they stopped fiddling with the clocks, we need more light in the evenings.  It throws everyone out.  I have been wondering about Sandra as well, I am sure she is loving it but I think she is going to find herself tired by the end of the week what with working mornings and looking after Roman.  Still, she should have lots to write about on her journal.  Have a good week Jan xxxxx

Hi Jan - Enjoy Jane Eyre; I wasn't going to watch it, having seen umpteen versions over the years, but there's always something to hold your attention.  I thought they rather skated over the awfulness of Lowood.  And, have you noticed Mr R. never seems to take off his boots ?  Critical old bird, moi !  Bunny x

Changing the clocks, eh? Dangerous subject up north here. Have a great week, Jan

Hi Jan. I've been wondering about Sandra as well. I'm sure she has been enjoying her day.
I agree with you on the time change. I think we should just leave it alone.  Would be nice.
Have a great day.

Yes today's Sandra's first day at her new job.  She'll do fine.   I dislike Daylight Savings time too.  They've talked about making it permanant here in the states, as in leaving it that way all year long.  It's stupid!  I'm afraid inorder to go fishing, I'd want a perfect day...no rain or wind, not to hot with just maybe a whisper of a breeze.  Guess, I won't be doing too much fishing.   Linda in WA

When you live in the north you welcome the change in clock times od you realise without dawn would be about 10:30 in Shetland - we may have much muhc longer summer days than you but we also ahve very very much shorter winter days.

I agree Jan putting the clocks back and forth should now be stopped ~ it is an outdated custom ~  Hope Maurice and Pete have a good day's fishing ~ can't understand you not wanting to go with them to be their tea lady lol ~ I hope everything is going well for Sandra like you I had been thinking about her ~  Love D's graphic ~ Ally

Daylight Savings time is a pain, it messes up our body clock but we get an extra hours sleep in the mornings, which is nice.  I have been watching 'Casualty' for a few years, and I really enjoyed the special episodes where Charlie & Duffy were reunited in Cambodia.  Can't wait to see 'Strictly Come Dancing' next week.  Hope Maurice has a nice time fishing!

I love to fish!  It is the one thing I can do where I actually will sit still for more than 5 minutes.   I can never bring myself to keep them, though.  I always toss them back in the water!  I guess if my life depended on it, and I had to eat them, I would be more apt to keep them.  Funny, love to fish, but don't like eating them! lol  I love shell fish... lobster, crab, oysters, clams, etc.. but, regular old fish... blech! lol

Hope you have a wonderful day, Jan! :)

Hugs
Jackie

If we did not shift the clocks in the autumn our childen in Scotland would be going to school in the dark as daylight would not come in central Scotland till about 9-30  and the farther north the later it would be.  Been showery here today.  Love Joan.

The only fishing I ever enjoyed was stickleback fishing, with a piece of string and a worm. (It was either that or school.) I did go 'proper' fishing twice in later years - it was very wet and extremely muddy and I swear I caught the same fish twice before tangling my line with someone else's. Nah, on my list of things to do fishing ranks a good third, below horse riding and sticking pins in my eyes. B. x

Jan, just be grateful we all have the same time around the country. It was only with the development of the railways that we had a standardised time, they had to do it then because the timetables were a nonsense with everyone at a different time. I read that somewhere recently and thought how odd that must have been.

Hi Jan, I would agree about the changing of the clocks but after reading the Scottish comments it doesn't seem to be such a good idea! Don't want to upset them! Nice to speak to you today, hope you enjoy your casserole with Maurice tonight. I hope Sandra got on well today, I'm sure she did! Jeannette xx

Do you remember the polish porter who was funny the way he used to call the head man Mr Plimmer?? and Duffy`s accent change loads from when casualty first started till now!But I love it as well. bella xx

I was thinking the time change was done here because of the school children having to wait in the dark for their school buses and there was a chance they would get run over so they adjusted the time accordingly. Hope Maurice has a great day fishing. Helen

Hi Jan,

I remember Casualty way back when Robson Greene played Jimmy the porter.  Looking back, I`m not surprised he went on to better things.  Was it really 20 years ago!!!  I hope Pete and Maurice had a great days fishing. :o)

I would not be fishing either. . its too cold now. I remember one year going to school in the dark. . it was in the sixties. . ..someone told me it was the year they didnt put the clocks back and there was far more accidents than any other time. . . dont know how true that is but I do remember the dark mornings.

Is that why the time changes? I didn't know that and had never thought about it. Well, over here in the US there aren't as many farms as there used to be so I have to agree with you about the custom.
I love those daisies!

Hope you enjoyed your day while Maurice was out fishing.  Did he catch any fish?  I'm with you about day light savings time.  We're getting ready to move our clocks back an hour the end of October.  I always feel like I'm running late for a few weeks until I adjust.  Take care!

Cracker was good wasn't it. The acting and plot were superb! I am not watching jane Eyre as I studied it for A level English and now cannot stand it! It is true how overstudy makes you hate a book/play! Love Conniex

I too hate day light savings time. Thats what we call it here. I have only heard one person say she likes it. It is so annoying in so many ways. From time to time I forget how to set my clock in my truck. One time I forgot to set my clocks the night before and went to church only to see when I got into the foyer church was almost over. I turned on my heel and got out of there before anyone saw me. lol Paula

That is a lovely tag...our days are definitely getting much shorter.  Hard to believe it's Oct.  Our trees barely have changed a bit in color yet.  I see Jane Eyre in all the UK journals and wish I had it on my cable.  Enjoy the sunshine...xx  Chris
