Come in and get warm

Last Friday, Maurice and I found the fire ,that we thought would look right in the fire surround he made earlier this year see above photographs ,through the summer months we had a vase with a display of twigs ,but this pretend wood burner ,has a lovely glow makes the room look cosy ,even with out the heater part working .We dont need that, our gas fired radiators are adequate.......

Imagine my delight yesterday ,whilst reading Donnas journal ,she had called it 'My Back yard 'when she explained she had thought about going out and taking some pictures ,then changed her mind and took some nearer home ,she had taken some pictures of some lovely Autumn trees ,talked of curling up in front of a nice log fire ,she signed off with the picture of the log burner ,I couldnt believe it ,I have often said Donna has the right graphic for many of my entrys ,but this is uncanny ,because it was on Donnas own entry I mailed her to get her permission to use it and she kindly said I may,she said ,I didnt know why I had taken that one ! that is in my basement, and added 'I do now '! Donna this is getting weird ....Lots of you know Donnas lovely work ,her URL  is in my side bar .She is so talented.

Do you realise its six months since I whinged ,about going to the dentist ,well it is, and I went back again today ,and the lovely Droda ,told me I have  a back tooth that needs a filling ,so I have to go back at the beggining of November ,so brace yourself folks  ,get ready for some snivveling and whinning !

Maurice is at work tonight ,and then he has three days off ,so I am about to make myself something to eat, then watch some tele' in front of the fire ,and admire my lovely clean curtains that I washed on Saturday ,I also cleaned the patio windows ,Hmm thats probably it till the spring ,I have almost finished the cardigan I have been knitting for what seems like ages, dont seem to knit as much in the summer ,but now the darker nights are here ,I find my self knitting away again ,Well Im waffleing now so Im off to kick the freezer ,see what comes falls out, for my dinner ! Have a lovely Evening Everyone ...With love

I absolutely adore your fire!  It looks wonderful in your living room.  Looking at it has warmed my heart!  We have an electric fire that looks very similar..it sits in front of a very old wood stove that is in our kitchen/lounge.  The old one was very unsightly, with a big crack across the glass door in the front...so I said to Todd, lets get another smaller one to put in front of it and it will just look like a part of the old one..so we did and it does.  It does make the room seem very cosy, even if we don't have the heating part on and just the light....makes one feel warm just looking at it.
Thanks for sharing!

Hi Jan, pity you can't get down to Brighton tonight, I would have shared my pumpkin soup with you, I've just made it! I love the fire, I've been thinking of getting a coal effect one similar to yours, it has real coals on it. I saw that graphic in Donna's journal this morning, it's getting a little weird now how she comes up with these things for you! Have a nice evening! Love Jeannette xx

Donna does make some beautiful graphics, doesn't she??

The dentist!  Not my favorite place to go either!  I get major white knuckle syndrome when I'm there!  Leave a permanent indention on the arms of his chairs! lol

I love your fire Jan. . is it electric? I have gas radiators too but need a fire to give us a warm glow. Its not the same in winter without a glow.

Love the new fireplace, Jan.  I bet it makes the room feel cosy now the nights are drawing in! Donna is very talented, and it is uncanny that she always produces a graphic that suits your entries to a tee.  What did you have from the freezer when you kicked it?  LOL!

Have a good week!

Hi Jan,  I LOVE your new wood burner, it really lloks good with the new fireplace.  I want a new fire too though I haven`t made up my mind which one yet, something warm and inviting even though it won`t be used as a fire.  I`ll leave the radiators to do the heating.  Oh no, not the dreaded dentist again, I do hate fillings! :o(

It looks lovely Jan, so inviting.  We have a flame gas fire that we put on now and again.  Nothing like a "real" fire.

I love your warm fire ...It's supposed to get very cold here in the next few days and 'warmth' will be needed. The past few days have been heavenly with warm afternoons and cool nights but all that will be leaving us for cold, wet days ahead.
Summer leaves us quickly and Autumn too soon turns to winter.  'On Ya' - ma

I would love your burner Jan, plus the mains gas heating to go with it. I'm relying on hubby, to stoke the coal burner and empty the huge ashpan every morning. He's okay with it at the moment, but if (read "when") he gets poorly again, I shall be without heating. No way can I lift buckets of coal or that dratted ashpan. A "real fire" is a pain, quite literally. I'm going to snag your log burner (many thanks to Donna) and put it on my startup screen, to remind me how wonderful it will be, when we finally get a little bungalow, with gas heating. Now I've seen a "preview" of yours, I shall be splashing out and getting our son to fit one, in that new home hubby and I are both longing for. Hopefully next year I shall be posting pics of my new nest and one of those lovely pretend wood burners.
Don't kick the freezer too hard, you might get "hammer toe"! Keep laughing with me and many thanks for your lovely journal.
Love Sylvia xxxx

Love the fire Jan. It looks very inviting. I like the idea of kicking the freezer to see what falls out for dinner. In our house Reet usually kicks me and asks what I'm gonna cook! B. x

WOW, Donna, you and these graphics are getting scary now, do you think that she could be telepathic, we have a real wood burning stove only trouble is I am waiting for the *@%*^!* builder to come back and finish  of the fire place before we can fit it and use it, along with waiting for numerouse other jobs that he needs to come and finish.
take care Lynne xx

Oh Jan, I just love woodburners.  I think they are absoulutely brilliant.  Now all you need is a nice old kettle to put water in and let it simmer on top so that you have all that lovely humidity in your room once winter sets in and our houses get as dry as dust!  Thank you so much for sharing this!

OOOOOOh that looks cosy.  Sounds as if you have a nice dentist.  Mine wears Hawaiian shirts, and pokes gentle fun at me, which is relaxing.  Difficult to respond to jokes with mouth wide open !  Bunny

I think your fireplace is lovely!  Oh, how wonderful it is to have a fire on a cold winter night especially when it's raining and windy.  Wrap yourself up with a cup of tea and a good book... mmmmmmmm, nothing like it!  As far as the dentist goes, every filling in my mouth set off a spark when I read that you had to go!  Oh, how I hate it, too.  I'll be sending hugs and sympathy on your dental appt. day!
hugs,  Kathy

Love your fire burner, Jan.  We have a very similar one in our family room as it is always drafty and cold in the winter.  We haven't used it much as it is 80 degrees here now but within the next day or two is dropping drastically.  We have it ready to go.  I hate going to the dentist also.  Good luck...xx  Chris

The fire looks lovely, really sets off the room and so much cleaner than my log fire, which is lovely but cleaning out the grate is not a task I enjoy!

Lol I like that expression "kick the freezer" I do that a lot at night. As for the dentist I dread it so much I postponed my appointment. I can find more excuses why I just can't go. Will have to eventually though. Paula

I HAVE JUST FOUND YOUR BLOG AND THINK IT ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL. THANKYOU FOR SHARING YOUR HAPPY NATURE WITH US ALL. SUCH A CHANGE FORM ALL THE DOOM AND GLOOM SURROUNDING US THESE DAYS.

Bit late in the day Jan, but catching up on the blogs, I have often thought of getting one of those electric log burner type fires as it would go so well in the natural alcove I have and suit my Victorian house, but have wondered how efficient they are? Will be interested in hearing how it affects your electricity bill! I too have gas fired radiators but nothing like a nice rosy glow in the hearth :-D

Freda
