Evening Telegraph ..sales soar ?

Donna has made yet another graphic ,that I feel fits my story today ....Thankyou Donna xx

Before I go any further let me point out ,Jeannette (travels )saw my mistake yesterday ,I had missed out a 1 on Daniells URL ,it should have been ~ http://journals.aol.co.uk/danielle89061/daniellesdiary/  ,sorry Danielle ,and thank you Jeannette ,for keeping an eye on me !

My title today is a complete and utter lie ,it ought not to be because they have printed my story ....

So there you have it !....... I have also been having  telephone conversations with the Editor of the 'Chronicles '(the John Lewis magazine )  who I think I have been able to help ,with his history of the fire ,and a bit about the store at that time ,

Well off now to do some ironing ugh ! .its been raining on and off all day ,what happened to the forecast that told us August was going to be even hotter ? Enjoy your Saturday everyone with love from

Ive been googled !

Once again Donna has produced exactly the right graphic ,for my entry today ,wow Donna ,this is getting spooky ...lol .....Thankyou .

The other evening a friend and neighbour ,called round to see me ,with a little gift ,Debbie and I often chat when we bump into each other ,at the shops or wherever our paths cross ,a few weeks ago ,she said ~" Hey ,you popped up on my computer screen ,and I thought I know that face " ,so she has been reading me ,and sometimes leaves a comment ,any way when I answered the door to her the other evening she told me she had brought some food for my mouses lol .

After my entry the other day ,entitled 'I got an answer '.the following comment apeared on my entry ,so I sent the gentleman an email,and have been able to help him with a few bits and peices ,and so the story continues....and Donnas graphic is lending it self to my memory trip back in time

Hello, sorry to bother you. I'm a journalist working at John Lewis Peterborough. I'm also writing an article on the fifty year anniversary of the fire at Robert Sayle, and came across your journal by doing a search on google. I've spoken to a few Partners who worked at both the old Robert Sayle and the one in the Queensgate centre when it opened in 1982 and the story is continuing to fascinate me as a piece of history.

I've spoken to our archivist in Stevenage who has given me a few photos of Robert Sayle, plus some press clippings, which I am also using to to do an extended feature on the anniversary for next week's magazine. I would be interested to know if you would like to help us with the article, or indeed see  some of the photos/clippings we have at our end. If so, you can contact me at chronicle_peterborough@johnlewis.co.uk.

Regards

and finally on the same post I, got a comment from a young lady  Danielle who has just started a new journal ,is living in London ,looking for a job and hails from Wales ,she hasnt been getting any visitors ,so it would be nice if you would give her a welcome ~ http://journals.aol.co.uk/danielle89061/daniellesdiary/......

Well I think thats all my news ,for now ,Have a lovely weekend folks ,Maurice is at work ,days today, tomorrow and Sunday then three nights then we will have our weekend .....

With Love

I got an answer !

Well I heard ,back from Lisa ,at the Peterborough Evening Telegraph,our local daily paper , it calls it self' evening ',but gets here at lunch time ! I like to read it each day ,it keeps me in touch with what is happening in Peterborough and surrounding areas .....I always read the Hatch ,Match and Despatch ...and if we're not in the obit' column ,we live to fight another day Lisa from the paper ,E- mailed me to say they would be using my contribution  next week,and that the Features department would also be in touch ,regarding the fifty years aniversary of the fire ,fifty years, you know ! and I can remember it ouch ! we had a reunion after thirty years ,and that was nearly twenty years ago ,I am getting more and more depressed as I write this !....I emailed some news paper cuttings I had scanned and copyed to my files .

Still I suppose  its history and our duty to record what we know ,so much has been lost ,as we ,who are interested in geneology realise ,I often wish I had asked more questions as a child ,the only thing when I was little ,children were meant to be seen and not heard ....

                                                                    Well since I'm beginning to waffle ,I will close now and go and cook some dinner ,Have a good evening everyone ...

My Weekend

On Friday I set off with my bus pass ,to Peterborough ,Grandson Stuart has been ringing me up all week to come and see their new house .... They have been on holiday this week, so have spent the week painting their lovely new home ,Vicki's Dad has retiled the kitchen floor ,and they have decorated right through ,and its so nice ,I am so proud of them ,they have worked and  saved ,and now are on the first step to being homeowners ......

When I got to Peterborough ,I went to' George'and bought a nice top ,in an ivory colour I had been looking for ,(Kate later gave me the money for it ,when I showed it to her ) I went over to Asda and bought a book that had been a holiday read recommendation on' Richard and Judy '(an afternoon chat show )I'ts by  Elizabeth Hyde called'The Abortionists Daughter',I havent started it yet but will let you know ......

I got to my daughter Kates ,where we had a sandwich and a cup of coffee and a natter,then we set off to see Stuart and Vicki and their new house ,Stuart is the  second son of my daughter Sharon ,after a tour of the house we sat in their garden and eat some cake Stuart had bought for his Gran's visit ,and whilst there Stuarts younger brother Paul  turned up ,'Did you see the down stairs loo Gran ?I painted that ' said Paul proudly ,Vicki and Stuart had set him on  too !......

Back to Kates to wait for Maurice to finish work ,and take me home ,when surprise ! Iain turned up ....he lives and works in London so I dont see him so often now ,he is here for the weekend ,and wasnt due till Saturday so ,lovely I got to see him too ,so I saw all Sharons boys ,they are my three eldest Grandsons ,who have a sister Charlotte my only Grandaughter ,.Maurice arrived to take me home and we popped back to Stuarts so Maurice could see the house,then home and collected fish and chips as it was now too late to start to cook  ,so that was Friday ....

                 Now what did I say about Donna's timing ?Look at this lovely graphic thankyou Donna so much....   ...Yesterday my dear sister Jean and her lovely husband Pete ,had been married for thirty nine years ,and must be the happiest couple I know ,they are so well suited and still as much in love now as they were all that time ago ,Jean and I were talking ,wondering where the time had gone ! and all the things that had happened to our familys in that time ,all the dear family members who have passed away ,but also all the new ones who have joined us or been born Any way with all my love to two of the nicest peple I know ,and who have always been there for me ...many many more years  for you together I pray .......

Lets Celebrate !

Some thing exciting is happening in J-Land ,check out Donna's journal ,she has made some amazing graphics for us to celebrate three years of journals/blogs,and suggests we visit Vivians journal too, who has some ideas and is looking for more  ,both these Ladies are on my side bar , though have to admit Vivian is new to me ,I have now put her on alerts as she looks to have an interesting journal ,I am meeting new people all the time . My own journal has been going for just over eleven months now .And what alot of friends I have made in that time ,and what alot I have learned ,mostly from other journalists,who are great at helping out with stuff I couldnt get my head round ,I wonder just how many journals there are ?who took the plunge and pressed save to post the first one ! I have been doing a tentative look around the UK ones ,and the first one I came up with is Stuart  on specimen days ,(have you tried his quiz ?even I am getting respectable results !!) Then I think it was Jules with Its my life ,then Claudia ,La Doci vita,then Jeannette took the plunge with Jeannettes jottings ,and like Stuart they are both on the blog page ,and Jeannette has helped most of the UK  journals to get started ,she certainly put me on the right track ,oh the times I emailed her in the beginning ,and each time she came back with the solution and then Sandra ,with Sandras Scribbles ,another one who helped me in the beginning ,Sandra has recently had PC problems and was away for a while and boy did we miss her ,she was conspicuous by her absence ....Dont really know where this list is leading me ,I just wondered who had been here from the beginning ,I suppose ! and to see who stayed the course ,many havent ,even since I started .....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have posted some pictures I took last weekend ,we have had rain each day since and it feels quite cold out now ,the forecast  says the warm weather is coming back ,and I hope they mean warm and not hot as it was for a while ,some newspapers were saying August was to be even hotter than  the July  highs ,oh dear !
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Well I had better go and do some housework ,to justify my existence  Have a great rest of the day .....and .Lets

Happy Birthday Matthew

I know you have seen the above pictures before, on Sams Birthday ,Today Matthew ,is fourteen ,he is the first  son of my daughter Kate and Martin her husband,I think out of all our eight Grandsons Matt looks most ,like his late Grandfather Mick ,he would have been so proud of his youngest daughter and her boys ,he would have loved Martin ,Matthew was born with a narrow valve to the heart ,so hes been a regular visitor to Great Ormand street hospital ,in London ,he hasnt needed to go this year ,but has to go back again next year ,this hasnt stopped Matt ,he is a keen sports man ,he loves to swim ,and enjoyed his snorkeling experiance ,whilst on holiday in Alcudia recently ,he likes football watching and playing ,and also plays rugby ,he is a clever student always getting good grades along with good school reports ,I have just spoken to him on the phone ,where they are all spending a few days,in Skegness ,in Lincolnshire ,where their other Granny has a caravan,he tells me its raining there quite heavily ,it doesnt seem fair after all the hot weather last week ...speaking to him on the phone I hardly recognise him ,his voice has broken now ,along way from the little boy I used to look after ,so his Mummy could go to work ,we had a great time ,watching alllllll  ! the Thomas the tank engine tapes over and over ,If Ringo Starr ever lost his voice I could have done the narration , and we used to spend hours watching the real trains ,on their way to London ,and on the other line going North ...we liked Noddy too ,but not the Gremlins in the 'Dark Wood ',I made a Noddy complete with a bell on his hat ,who was much loved at the time ,though its been raining Matt tells me they have been shopping ,he has been spending his Birthday money .So a very happy birthday Matt with love from Granny Jan xxxxxx

Its raining here too today ,and has cooled down ,and is really quite refreshing ,so no need to water tonight ,we went out to the Lincolnshire Fens ,to a place called Gedney Hill yesterday,Maurice ,whos back at work for three days ,had heard of a new fishing lake ,and when we found it ,it did look good ,Ithink he would like to try over nighting there so it will be the tent ,and when the weather is nice again ,but will keep you posted on that ,This is the second time Ihave done all this ,I clicked save ,as you do ,and got ... blogs unavailable ...and the entry was lost ,Thankyou AOL ,So while the going is good I'll get going ,have a lovely evening everyone with love and

Jan xxxx
